According to a recent insider report, Marvel Studios has held discussions with one of the preferred choices of the MCU fanbase to portray Doctor Doom. Since Marvel Studios acquired the rights to the character in 2019, there has been speculation about the iconic supervillain's introduction to the MCU. The anticipation for Doom's debut has grown especially after Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige announced a reboot of the Fantastic Four in the same year.
Fans have eagerly awaited the arrival of Doom in the MCU, but rumors of his appearance in various movies have proven false. There were claims that Doom would be in "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever," but producer Nate Moore has denied these rumors. Recently, there has been online speculation about Doom replacing Kang as the main antagonist in MCU Phases Five and Six. However, Marvel Studios has not officially addressed Jonathan Majors' future or the possibility of a switch between Kang and Doom, so these reports should be taken with caution.
MCU fans’ Doctor Doom dream casting may actually come true
Additionally, a recent update on the casting for Fantastic Four has been revealed by scooper John Campea. It has been stated by Campea that Marvel Studios is actively searching for an actor to portray the character of Doctor Doom. To the delight of MCU fans, Mads Mikkelsen, who is highly regarded among their preferences, is being considered for this significant role.
During an interview on The John Campea Show, it was revealed that Mads Mikkelsen has been approached by Marvel Studios to discuss the role of Doom. It is important to note that while Mikkelsen is one of the individuals they have spoken to, no official confirmation has been made regarding his casting as Doom.
Campea's report received an enthusiastic response from many MCU fans on social media. One X user exclaimed, "I'm not lying... this would be amazing!" Another fan expressed their support for the casting, stating, "This would be a dream come true!" Additionally, a post described Mikkelsen's casting as "exciting news."
However, not all fans are convinced that Mikkelsen should play the role of Doctor Doom in the MCU. These individuals argue against the idea, citing Mikkelsen's previous portrayal of Doctor Strange's Kaecilius. As one critic stated, "No one could portray Doctor Doom as perfectly as Mads Mikkelsen, but he's already part of the MCU."
The Mandalorian star tapped for Mister Fantastic role
In addition to Doctor Doom, other characters from the Fantastic Four also ignite passionate discussions among fans. The news that Pedro Pascal, known for his role in The Last of Us, may portray the team's leader Reed Richards / Mister Fantastic has similarly caused fervent debates online.
Vanessa Kirby, known for her role as Napoleon in the film, is rumored to be the top choice to play Sue Storm / Invisible Woman, Reed's wife. However, Kirby has yet to confirm her involvement in the project. For the most recent updates on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, visit Dexerto's comprehensive coverage here.
Editor's P/S
As a Gen Z fan, I am thrilled at the prospect of seeing Doctor Doom finally make his way into the MCU. Doctor Doom is one of the most iconic supervillains in Marvel comics, and fans have been clamoring for his appearance for years. I believe that Mads Mikkelsen would be an excellent choice for the role. He has the acting chops to pull off the complex and nuanced character of Doom, and he has the physical presence to be believable as a formidable foe for the heroes of the MCU.
I am also excited about the possibility of Pedro Pascal being cast as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic. Pascal is a talented actor who has proven his ability to carry a major franchise with his role in The Mandalorian. I think he would bring a lot of energy and charisma to the role of Reed Richards, and I can't wait to see him interact with the other members of the Fantastic Four.
