In Destiny 2's Season of the Witch, players are drawn into a captivating world of hidden truths. Savathun's expertise in deception and secrecy continues to play a pivotal role, even after her worm was eradicated. As the season progresses, players stumble upon a seemingly insignificant new activity.
However, this unexpected mission holds surprising revelations about Season 23 and offers insight into how Savathun aids Guardians in traversing the Witness's portal. The Imbaru Engine, as this activity is known, presents perplexing puzzles that challenge the mind. To unlock its secrets, players must solve these puzzles before Season 23 begins, as it is only available for a limited time.
This guide contains spoilers, so players should proceed with caution.
How to Access The Imbaru Engine
Once players have completed the fifth week of the Season of the Witch story quest, they will gain access to the Imbaru Engine. This activity, central to the storyline, involves a series of puzzles instead of combat. Known as the "Tests," there are four puzzles in total, each described in detail below.
None of these puzzles are timed, so players can take as long as they want. Even if players make a mistake and die, they can simply revive and try again.
Test of Cunning
In order to complete this test, players must locate and open the chest that is marked by the symbol displayed above. The challenge lies in the fact that the chests can appear in different locations, making it challenging to provide specific directions. Simply keep an eye out for the symbol mentioned above. It's important to be cautious of misleading clues, as there may be chests that appear correct but are actually incorrect choices.
Test of Strength
The Test of Strength can only be initiated once the preceding test has been successfully cleared. Additionally, Destiny 2 players must locate the Opaque Card concealed within the Savathun's Spire activity. Towards the conclusion, players will come across a chamber adorned with statues, housing a portal. On the right side of this room, there is a retrievable card. Acquire this card from the HELM in order to unlock the subsequent trial.
Once a test has been accomplished, players are not required to repeat it. They simply need to approach the door leading to the following puzzle, where they will receive a button prompt to proceed.
While players are required to eliminate some Hive in this test, none of the Hive adversaries engage in combat. To proceed, activate the Deepsight located at the rear of the room, which will unveil tracks leading to the initial Hive target for termination. Dispose of this enemy and take note of the platform's orientation, as well as the direction faced by the enemy. This indicates the subsequent enemy that must be eliminated. Successfully killing the correct enemy will advance the progress bar, while an incorrect target selection will result in player failure and necessitate a restart.
Eventually, the trail will guide players into another room where additional enemies positioned on plates must be eliminated. Following the demise of the first enemy in this secondary room, players must subsequently eliminate all remaining enemies. To facilitate this endeavor, the following is the predetermined sequence in which the enemies must be killed. Although it appears unlikely to change, this guide will be promptly updated should any alterations occur.
Kill Order: Knight, Knight, Knight, Thrall, Thrall, Thrall (indicating the first room, which leads to another Knight pointing towards a smaller third room), Thrall, Thrall, Thrall, Thrall.
By eliminating the final adversary, players will effectively finish the second puzzle.
Test of Navigation
The following test necessitates players to possess a means of utilizing all three forms of Light damage, namely Arc, Void, and Solar. An excellent choice for this task is the Exotic weapon known as Hardlight, as it is a primary weapon capable of seamlessly switching between all three damage types with a simple press of a button. Once players have successfully completed both the Test of Cunning and Test of Strength, they will unlock the Test of Navigation. However, in order to access this third puzzle, players must locate the concealed Opaque Card within the Altars of Summoning. Within the central area featuring three pathways, search for the arena housing a statue grasping a crystal. Shoot the crystal and then leap up to acquire the Opaque Card.
Start the test by shooting the rune depicted in the image above using Arc damage. If you perform this action correctly, the portal will open. To find the second rune, search for a Solar rune positioned on top of a portal frame.
Move to the depicted location and aim your weapon towards the right of the portal frame. This is where the third rune is located. However, be cautious as Savathun employs a deceptive tactic by hiding the runes behind other runes using perspective.
For the fourth and last rune, please switch to the Solar element. Proceed by leaping onto the small ledge located on the left side and aim to shoot the Solar rune displayed in the provided image. This action will result in the opening of the ultimate portal. Finally, access the portal to successfully complete the test and acquire a variety of generous rewards.
Test of Truth and Lies
To access the final test in the Imbaru Engine, players need to successfully complete the three preceding tests and then acquire the Opaque Card, which is hidden in the Altar of Summoning activity located at the Altar of Feracity. Look for the highlighted ledge shown in the image above and jump onto it. After obtaining and claiming the card at the HELM, return to the Imbaru Engine and proceed to the location where the Test of Navigation ends. Enter the portal in that area.
Avoid using the circular portal; instead, opt for the square portal. The circular portal will only take players back to the previous section instead of moving them forward.
Engage with the object located in the center of the room to trigger the appearance of three braziers. Return through the portal and proceed all the way to the Test of Cunning area in the Imbaru Engine. Activate the Deepsight situated in the center of the arena. Follow the luminous white footprints to locate a flame along the wall that can be grasped. Unfortunately, the remaining two flames are found in other activities, requiring players to temporarily exit the Imbaru Engine.
Find the second flame near the beginning of Altars of Summoning. Head straight ahead when you reach the area with three paths leading to arenas and use the Deepsight. Stay on this path until you reach the flame. The third flame can be found in Savathun's Spire. Towards the end of the activity, navigate through a labyrinth. Look for a Deepsight on one of the pillars. Activate it and turn back to find platforms that can be jumped on. Jump towards the right from the second platform to find the third and final flame hidden in a corner.
After completing these tasks, go back to the Imbaru Engine and return to the room where the three braziers appeared. Activate the test again and light all three braziers. This will unlock access to where the test officially begins. Interact with the object in the center of the room and then activate the runes.
Prioritize grabbing this rune initially, and subsequently procure the other rune from a akin appearing pillar. In the chamber, solely two such pillars exist, proffering the indispensable Truth and Lie enhancements to unravel this perplexity. Following this accomplishment, meticulously activate the runes in the designated sequence within the room.
Afterwards, proceed towards the device that bears an uncanny resemblance to the Traveler, featuring the portal within it, and present the ultimate offering. Should the appropriate runes have been activated, in their correct sequence, the portal shall unveil its secrets. As the conversation draws to a close, seize the Ahamkara egg to obtain distinctive rewards and bring the mission to a close.
