Discussions Underway: EA Immortals Possibly Heading to Game Pass or PS Plus, Developer Reveals

Exciting possibilities arise as discussions take place regarding the potential arrival of EA's Immortals of Aveum on popular subscription services, offering players a fresh opportunity to experience this captivating game

The new IP, Immortals of Aveum, developed by Bret Robbins' Ascendant Studios, was released in August but failed to meet expectations, resulting in staff layoffs. To potentially improve the game's future success, there is speculation about the possibility of it being added to subscription services like Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation Plus.

According to Robbins, these services can "expand your reach," and making Immortals available on Game Pass or PS Plus could potentially increase player engagement.

Robbins mentioned that talks are ongoing, and he is optimistic about Immortals potentially being included in one or both of the subscription catalogs in the future. "Yes, we are in discussions with them about having the game available on both of those platforms. While we don't have a date yet, I am confident that it will happen," he stated.

When asked if Immortals would have benefitted from launching directly into a subscription service, Robbins expressed uncertainty about whether it would have been helpful or detrimental to the game.

Ascendant was forced to downsize its staff as Immortals failed to meet expectations, but the studio is still up and running and is currently working on its next game, although it has not been officially announced yet.

Robbins also mentioned in the interview that the competitive market may have contributed to Immortals' underperformance, and the fact that it was a new IP presented additional challenges. "I've never experienced a year like this," Robbins remarked. "Building awareness for us was incredibly tough. Launching a new IP is always a challenge, but this year made it ten times harder."

Immortals is a first-person "magic shooter" game that follows the story of Jak, portrayed by Darren Barnet from Never Have I Ever. Our website's review of Immortals of Aveum gave the game a 5/10 rating.

As a hard fan of video games, I'm always excited to hear about new releases and potential additions to popular subscription services like Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus. The news that EA's Immortals of Aveum is being considered for these platforms has me intrigued, as I've been keeping an eye on this game since its release. While it didn't quite meet expectations upon launch, I believe that being added to a subscription service could give it a new lease on life and allow more players to experience it.

The fact that Ascendant Studios is still working on the game and is in discussions with Microsoft and Sony about bringing it to their respective subscription services shows that they are committed to improving the game and giving it the chance to find a wider audience. I'm cautiously optimistic that Immortals of Aveum could find new success on Game Pass or PS Plus, and I'm eager to see how the game evolves in the future.
