Discovering Bunkers in Sons of the Forest: Expert Tips and Strategies

Sons of the Forest, developed by Endnight Games, is a thrilling horror survival game that serves as the sequel to The Forest. Immerse yourself in a treacherous journey as players find themselves stranded in a remote forest infested with cannibals, forced to fight for their escape.

Initially, Sons of the Forest automatically marked underground bunkers on the GPS with green flashing circles. Exploring these locations offered players access to vital resources such as weapons, blueprints, and crucial equipment. However, with the release of Patch 04, the bunker markers were removed from the GPS. As a result, players now need to find POI laptops, activating trackers that unveil points of interest.

All Bunker Locations in Sons of the Forest

The map size in Sons of the Forest is notably larger compared to its predecessor, necessitating players to travel by foot for reaching certain important areas. Upon crash landing, players will acquire an emergency pack containing essential items such as a GPS, Lighter, Tactile Axe, and a Survivalist Guide Book. The GPS map is an excellent tool for navigation and reveals the location of caves, bases, GPS locators, and bunkers once the respective POI laptop is discovered.

While some bunkers require specific tools or key cards for entry, a handful of locations can be accessed immediately. In Sons of the Forest, there are a total of seven POI laptops scattered across the map. Below is a list detailing their locations and the recommended order for locating them.

Entertainment Bunker POI Laptop

The first easily accessible POI laptop for players is located near the beach spawn point. There are three possible landing spots for players, which include the beach, the mountain top, or along the river. The beach spawn point is situated on the northernmost part of the island and conveniently lies adjacent to a significant cave.

The cave is tucked among the rocks just off the shoreline. Although the entrance is boarded up, players can utilize their axe to remove the obstructions. Upon entering the cave, they will discover a source of light and various supplies.

The POI laptop is positioned on a rock situated just behind a red crate. Engage with it to initiate its activation, and subsequently, the exact whereabouts of the Entertainment Bunker will be unveiled on the GPS system once the cave is exited. Before departing, it is imperative for players to acquire the Rebreather, conveniently located within the cave.

Maintenance Bunker A POI Laptop

Before searching for the remaining POI laptops, players should obtain a few essential items. Once they acquire the Rebreather, they can then pursue the Rope Gun, which is utilized for traversing zip lines and constructing new ones.

Next on the list is the Shovel, situated in a cave on the western side, near the base of the snowy mountain. Fortunately, the Shovel can be found in the same cave as the Maintenance Bunker A POI laptop. The cave commences with players riding a zip line to a section of open water. Beware, as there are numerous mutants inside the cave, so be prepared for a confrontation.

Plunge into the water and don the Rebreather in order to explore the cavern at greater depths. After surfacing, a direct path within the cave leads to the discovery of the laptop and Shovel at the designated point of interest (POI). It's worth noting that players will encounter the laptop before reaching the Shovel.

Proceed beyond the two soldiers positioned adjacent to the illuminated area, and continue along the cave until you reach another spacious section adorned with a central source of light. Near the light, you will find the Maintenance Bunker A POI laptop beside a deceased soldier.

Food and Dining Bunker POI Laptop

Players can locate the Food and Dining Bunker POI laptop by utilizing the Shovel. The laptop can be found inside Maintenance Bunker A, which will be conveniently highlighted on the GPS. Maintenance Bunker A is situated at a digsite on the northwest side of the island.

To access the bunker, look for loose dirt covering the entrance and the appearance of the shovel icon. Players should cautiously dig out the dirt, while carefully keeping an eye out for cannibals from the nearby large camps. Once all the dirt has been cleared, descend into the bunker.

Located in a compact space, the bunker comprises a solitary hallway and a duo of rooms. The initial room on the right houses the Food and Dining Bunker POI laptop, which sits atop a table adjacent to the kitchen. Players should acquire the keycard from the desk neighboring the 3D printer since it is indispensable for accessing the remaining laptops.

Residential Bunker POI Laptop

Please head to the Food and Dining Bunker indicated on your GPS to find the next laptop. This bunker can be accessed without the need for excavation, but the entrance is located within a cave. The cave can be found in the northwest direction of Maintenance Bunker A, near a sizable lake.

Look for a large rock with two out-of-service golf carts in front of it, as this serves as the entrance to the cave. Once you are inside, simply follow the path downwards until you come across a hatch labeled "Food and Dining". This hatch leads to an abandoned kitchen area, where you will find a locked door that can only be opened with the Maintenance Keycard.

As players progress through the subsequent rooms, they will encounter hydroponic gardens. Gradually, the rooms become submerged as players venture further into the underground bunker. To continue, players must swim back to a corridor with an open door on the left and a staircase at the far end.

Go inside the door on the left and follow the hall into a security room. The Residential Bunker POI laptop is on a desk next to some monitors.

Players can also pick up Virginia's keycard, which unlocks the doors at the end of the flooded hallway. There is a boss fight in this room against the Pufftons.

Maintenance Bunker B POI Laptop

The next point of interest (POI) laptop can be found inside the Entertainment Bunker. Players will know they've found the correct location if they spot a green dot representing the bunker on their GPS at the start of the game. The bunker is situated near the west beach, alongside a small river. When players see a broken-down golf cart near the entrance of a cave, they will realize they are in close proximity to the laptop.

Upon entering the cave, players will come across a compact room containing a 3D Printer, a sleeping cot, and various supplies. If they choose to proceed by taking a left turn down the corridor, they can maneuver through a small opening in the wall. This will lead them to a well-lit, contemporary hallway area with a set of doors at the far end.

Utilize the Maintenance Keycard to gain access to these doors. The subsequent room houses a gym and resort area, however, caution is advised as several mutants are present. It is recommended that players equip themselves with potent weaponry and medical supplies. Progression through the bunker entails navigating beyond the spa's reception area and locating a spiral staircase.

Afterwards, individuals have the option to ascend the stairs to reach the pool bar. Positioned at the rear of the pool bar lies an exposed lounge area with scattered bodies. Additionally, participants have the opportunity to acquire a guitar from the bar and the last keycard from the booths situated towards the rear.

To access the POI laptop, players are required to obtain this keycard. First, they need to return to the bar area and locate the locked door. Once found, they can utilize the recently acquired keyboard to gain entry. Inside, they will discover the POI laptop placed on a table alongside a printed email. This laptop provides valuable information revealing the whereabouts of Maintenance Bunker B.

Maintenance Bunker C POI Laptop

Players will come across the Maintenance Bunker C POI laptop within Maintenance Bunker B, although accomplishing this task may prove challenging due to the bunker's location underneath a lively cannibal camp. Positioned on the southwest side of the island, near a small pond, this camp poses a formidable obstacle.

Like Maintenance Bunker A, players are required to excavate the door using their Shovel. It is advisable to first eliminate the cannibal camp for a more strategic approach. The interior of the bunker bears resemblance to the other Maintenance Bunkers, featuring both an apartment and a storage room.

The POI Laptop can be found on a table inside the apartment. By accessing this laptop, players can uncover the whereabouts of the ultimate Maintenance Bunker, where they will discover the Revolver. In addition, players have the opportunity to acquire the Compound Bow from the rear bathroom of Maintenance Bunker B.

Luxury Bunker POI Laptop

Located in the southeastern region of the island, the Residential Bunker houses the highly sought-after final POI laptop. To reach this destination, players have two options: either scale the mountain or take a longer route around it. The entrance to the bunker is discreetly tucked into the western side of a lake, concealed by a lofty rock formation. Venturing inside, players descend further into the depths until they encounter a cavernous room with a noticeable opening at its base.

To proceed, crouch down and pass through the hole before descending the stairs. Another set of stairs must be taken next to the deceased construction worker. Afterwards, proceed through the door on the left, triggering a momentous cutscene. Once the scene concludes, venture further into the bunker by navigating through the corridors.

As players progress, they will come across various mutants, but they should continue moving ahead towards the staircase leading to Level 2. Similar to Level 1, Level 2 is structured with two rooms in each corridor. Players need to navigate to the second corridor and locate the room situated farthest at the back, which will be visibly covered in slime.

The laptop is sitting on the desk in the back next to a monitor with some storyline hints. There is also a Space Suit that players can equip or give to Kelvin to wear.
