Summary
Geordi La Forge's Fleet Museum in Picard season 3 needs one more special ship: the Borg Cube Artifact.
The disabled Borg Cube known as the Artifact is a significant symbol of the Federation's victory over the Borg, and it is highly recommended to be incorporated into the Fleet Museum.
Given the absence of any current threats posed by the Borg following the events of Picard season 3, Starfleet can now confidently showcase the Artifact, using it as a means to educate and enlighten visitors about their formidable adversaries.
Star Trek: Picard season 3's Fleet Museum boasts an array of notable Starfleet ships and iconic vessels that will captivate any enthusiast. Among the remarkable exhibits are the rebuilt USS Enterprise-D, skillfully reconstructed in secret by Commodore Geordi La Forge within Hangar 12. This iconic starship played a pivotal role in Admiral Jean-Luc Picard's triumph over the Borg. Additionally, visitors can marvel at Captain Jonathan Archer's NX-01 Enterprise refit, Captain James T. Kirk's legendary USS Enterprise-A, and Admiral Kathryn Janeway's esteemed USS Voyager, now preserved as museum pieces. Notable adversaries' ships, including a 23rd-century Romulan warbird and the infamous HMS Bounty, a Klingon Bird-of-Prey commandeered by Kirk, also add an intriguing element to the collection. However, to ensure the Fleet Museum's completeness, the addition of a unique Starfleet vessel is warranted.
Picard Season 1's Borg Cube Artifact Should Be Added To Geordi's Fleet Museum
The Borg Cube Artifact featured in Star Trek: Picard season 1 should rightfully find its place in Geordi La Forge's Fleet Museum. After the Artifact crash-landed on the synthetic race's homeworld, Coppelius, and its subsequent possession by Starfleet, the specific whereabouts remain unknown. However, given its tie to the new USS Stargazer's Borg technology retrofit, it is only logical that the Artifact be preserved in the Fleet Museum. In the 2280s, the Borg Cube suffered disablement after a Romulan incident, resulting in its disconnection from the Collective. Converted into the Artifact, it became the Borg Reclamation Project site, where Hugh guided the restoration of Borg drones to their original species in collaboration with the United Federation of Planets. Unfortunately, the Zhat Vash extremist Romulan sect murdered most of the drones before Seven of Nine took charge of the Artifact and transported it to Coppelius. In the post-Star Trek: Picard season 3 era, it is safe to assume that the Artifact no longer possesses dangerous Borg technology and can safely reside in the Fleet Museum on Athan Prime.
The Borg Are No Longer A Threat After Picard Season 3
With the Borg no longer posing a threat after the events of Star Trek: Picard season 3, Starfleet is now considering placing the Artifact on display in the Fleet Museum. The Borg's attempt to assimilate Starfleet, led by Jack Crusher and thwarted by Jean-Luc Picard and the USS Enterprise-D crew, resulted in the destruction of the Borg. This means that the Artifact is unlikely to come back online, as there is no longer a Collective except for the benevolent Borg led by the former Dr. Agnes Jurati.
Having the Artifact in the Fleet Museum would serve as a powerful symbol of the Federation's victory over the Borg. It would also educate visitors about Starfleet's greatest adversary. Given Geordi's personal history with the Borg, he would be the ideal overseer of the Artifact. If the proposed spinoff, Star Trek: Legacy, becomes a reality, the Artifact could find its place among the vacant displays in the Fleet Museum on Athan Prime.
