Do you want to watch Oppenheimer but don't have 3 hours? Not to worry, a fan has made a "hyper-fast" edit that's less than a minute. In the past, epics like Gone with the Wind, Ben-Hur, and Lawrence of Arabia were big screen favorites.
In recent times, lengthy movie runtimes that test the patience of restless viewers have become the norm, even for films that may not justify it. For example, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny ran for over two-and-a-half hours this year, and Napoleon's theatrical release will seem short compared to its four-hour streaming length.
Oppenheimer, on the other hand, has managed to avoid criticism despite its three-hour runtime, with moviegoers still eager to watch it. However, a new edit of the film presents a stark contrast.
Oppenheimer fan creates “hyper-fast” one-minute version
Thanks to X/Twitter user @n0tsig, you can now experience the entirety of Oppenheimer with a breakneck runtime of just 52 seconds.
The movie in its original (and proper) state is 180 minutes long, so this edit takes you through the film 207 times faster than normal. You could watch the whole thing more than 200 hundred times while the actual movie ran in the background.
The edit has already gained nearly 50,000 views. "Smh this is what people have been talking about? It's not even a full minute," one user quipped. Another user shared, "Realistic simulation of what's in my brain 24/7." "Just watched Oppenheimer without blinking," tweeted a third. "First 33 seconds are great but the last 19 really drag on," joked a fourth. "Even in a 52-second long video it's still perfection," another wrote. "Does this count as a rewatch on Letterboxd?" asked a sixth.
Oppenheimer has made a big splash in the home entertainment industry, causing a surge in demand for physical media. 4K Ultra HD copies are completely sold out across the US, and there is a shortage of Blu-ray stocks. However, Universal has reassured customers that they are working on restocking supplies. This means that if you were hoping to enjoy the music once again this Christmas, you are likely to still have the chance.
