Once players have finished the initial main quest in Starfield, they are at liberty to explore the Settled Systems in any way they choose. They have the option to either continue with the main quest or engage in various side quests, with countless possibilities awaiting them. However, it might be worth considering that the subsequent main quest ventures back into space. Therefore, Starfield players may find it beneficial to concentrate solely on the storyline until they have successfully completed the first few quests.
Proceed with caution as this walkthrough contains spoilers. After completing One Small Step, players will embark on The Old Neighborhood. In this second quest, Sarah Morgan accompanies the players as they explore a new lead on an artifact. Be prepared to travel throughout Sol during this quest.
Take a Tour
Before engaging in conversation with Sarah, players should take the opportunity to communicate with the other members of the Constellation. Noel will provide players with a tour, highlighting their living quarters. Once prepared, return to the library where Constellation Guide 01 can be found on one of the adjacent tables. This valuable item grants a permanent five percent reduction in fall damage. As this enhancement is permanent, players should remain vigilant in seeking out additional similar upgrades.
Once prepared, proceed to speak with Sarah. During the quest, she will serve as an active companion. However, players may choose to recruit her permanently afterwards. Sarah possesses information regarding another potential artifact and invites players to accompany her on this expedition.
Investigating a Lead
Follow the blue waypoint and approach Tuala. Engage in conversation with him to hear his pitch about joining the Vanguard. Whether to accept or decline is entirely up to the player and does not impact the main storyline. It is worth noting that joining the Vanguard offers a myriad of quests and rewards exclusive to its members. Nevertheless, regardless of the decision, players will gain further insight into the alleged sighting of the artifact.
Head to Cydonia on Mars in the Sol system and inquire about Moara. Prior to embarking, ensure that you have stocked up on any necessary supplies or ammunition. To gather more details about Moara, visit the bar in Cydonia and converse with the bartender. The bartender will divulge his knowledge to players, but only if they pay 2,500 credits. Alternatively, players have the option to attempt to persuade him. Regardless of the chosen method to obtain the information, the subsequent step is to journey to Venus. Conveniently fast travel there to save time.
How to Sneak Past the Va'ruun Zealots
In close proximity to Venus, there exists a signaling device housing crucial information regarding Moara's location. Regrettably, a faction of enemy Va'ruun extremists are situated nearby. To elude detection, it is essential to deactivate all operational systems, except for the engines, which should retain minimal power, equivalent to one or two bars. Maintain your intended trajectory and ensure an ample distance from other spacecraft to avoid arousing suspicion. Upon reaching the proximity required for downloading the data, wait for Sarah to conclude her conversation. Subsequently, promptly initiate fast travel to the Nova Galactic Staryard, stationed in orbit around Earth's moon, Luna.
Search the Nova Galactic Staryard
Upon arrival, head towards the Nova Galactic Staryard and use the dock prompt once you are in close proximity. Board the ship, but remain cautious of any Spacers who may be on board. These scavengers tend to shoot before asking questions, so it is advised not to engage with them. Additionally, players will also come across a squad of mercenaries throughout the station. It is important to be aware of their whereabouts and take cover if necessary for healing purposes.
During the combat with enemies, be sure to search any crates for ammunition or credits. Once the area has been cleared, follow the designated blue waypoint to reach a ship. On the table, there will be a slate containing a note from Moara. Take the time to read the note and then make your way back to the Frontier.
Go to Neptune
When you're prepared, utilize the fast-travel option to reach Neptune and carry on with the ongoing quest to locate Moara. Head in the direction of the blue waypoint while ensuring your shields are activated. Be aware that Moara's ship has been taken over by enemies and it will engage in hostile fire towards players. Engage in combat until the ship's engines are disabled, then cautiously approach, dock, and board it.
More mercenaries have joined the group. Eliminate them and search their bodies to find a key that will unlock the door leading to the bridge. Speak to Moara, who will gladly give up the artifact as a token of gratitude for saving his life. Depart from the ship and use fast-travel to return to the Lodge and combine the artifact with the others. To successfully complete this quest, have a final conversation with Sarah. If desired, players have the option to permanently recruit Sarah.
At this point, players will gain access to multiple main quests. The order in which these quests are completed is entirely up to the players. After exploring the area, players will likely have some side quests in their quest log as well, so they may choose to tackle a few of those before progressing with the main story.
