If you're looking to experience the best US beach in 2024, head to Hawaii like "The Brady Bunch" did. Duke Kahanamoku Beach on Oahu tops the annual list of the top 10 US beaches compiled by coastal scientist Stephen Leatherman, also known as "Dr. Beach."
Kahanamoku is not just a random choice. It ranked as the second-best beach in Leatherman's 2023 list. What makes it stand out?
According to Leatherman, this sandy paradise is situated at the west end of Waikiki Beach, away from the busy crowds found in other areas.
"It is the widest beach on this stretch of world-famous sands and protected by an offshore coral reef, making it a good beach for families with children. The nearby Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon is also a favorite bathing and swimming spot," said Leatherman, a professor in the Department of Earth & Environment at Florida International University in Miami.
Hawaii is predicted to be the top destination in 2024.
Hawaii, the 50th state, has the highest number of entries on the top 10 list with three slots. This means that if you visit Hawaii and island hop, you can experience three of the best beaches in the country all in one state.
