Sony's Ghost of Tsushima is currently being developed into a movie, with renowned director Chad Stahelski, known for his work on John Wick, leading the project. When asked about the progress of the film, Stahelski revealed in an interview with ScreenRant that the script has been completed, however, there are still various other elements that need to be sorted out.
"We have a script, and we're on the verge of finalizing everything. The development process can be challenging, dealing with studios, labor disputes, scheduling conflicts, and location scouting," he stated. "But we are determined to bring this movie to life."
Stahelski is involved in several upcoming projects, including the movie adaptations of Ghosts of Tsushima, Highlander, and Rainbow Six. Among these, he expressed particular enthusiasm for the Highland and Ghost of Tsushima projects, considering them both exceptional and dear to him. He even went on to state that the story of Ghost of Tsushima is one of his all-time favorite properties.
It is still uncertain whether Stahelski will prioritize Highlander or Ghosts of Tsushima for his next project.
One aspect that Stahelski is focused on is enhancing the color scheme in the upcoming Ghost of Tsushima film. He questions how to authentically and convincingly portray the world in a lifelike and down-to-earth manner.
Stahelski expressed his belief that the successful HBO TV series adaptation of The Last of Us proves that a well-executed video game adaptation is possible. He emphasized the importance of dedicating care and attention to the project. According to him, out of all the other video game adaptations in progress, Ghost of Tsushima is the one that will truly resonate with audiences.
In Hollywood, the fact that a film is in development does not guarantee that it will be produced. Stahelski hinted at this during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, jokingly remarking, "Hollywood just loves making announcements, doesn't it? There have been a couple where my name has popped up as the director, and to be honest, I was quite surprised."
Stahelski's most recent film, John Wick: Chapter 4, achieved a global box office revenue exceeding $440 million. While there are plans in progress for John Wick 5, it is still in the early stages.
The film adaptation of Ghosts of Tsushima is currently in development under the PlayStation Productions brand. This division has previously produced highly successful films like Uncharted and Gran Turismo, along with TV productions such as Twisted Metal and The Last of Us series. In addition, PlayStation Productions has a number of exciting projects in the pipeline, including TV shows based on God of War and Horizon, as well as a film adaptation of Days Gone.

As a passionate fan of both the Ghost of Tsushima game and the John Wick movies, I am incredibly excited about the upcoming film adaptation of Ghost of Tsushima. Chad Stahelski's involvement in the project gives me great confidence, as he has proven his ability to deliver stylish and action-packed films with the John Wick franchise.
I am particularly interested in seeing how Stahelski will bring the vibrant and immersive world of Ghost of Tsushima to life on the big screen. The game's stunning visuals and detailed environments were a major part of its appeal, and I am eager to see how Stahelski will translate that to film. I am also curious to see how he will handle the film's action sequences, as the game's combat was one of its strongest aspects.
Overall, I am very optimistic about the Ghost of Tsushima film and believe it has the potential to be a breakout hit. With Stahelski at the helm and a talented cast and crew, I am confident that the film will do justice to the source material and deliver an exciting and unforgettable experience for fans.
