A significant portion of a motorway in southwest Sweden collapsed overnight, resulting in three individuals being hospitalized with minor injuries, according to authorities on Saturday.
The landslide affected the motorway connecting Sweden's second-largest city, Gothenburg, with Norway's capital, Oslo. The incident occurred near the small town of Stenungsund, approximately 50 km north of Gothenburg along Sweden's western coast.
"The affected area of the landslide is approximately 150 x 100 meters in the most severely impacted sections. However, the overall area affected by the landslide spans approximately 700 x 200 meters," stated the Gothenburg Rescue Services.

The slide affected around ten vehicles, a wooded area, a business area with a gas station and a fast food restaurant, the rescue services said.
Fire personnel and a helicopter have assisted in rescuing multiple individuals trapped inside vehicles in the area affected by the landslide, as per Swedish news agency TT.
All individuals in the vehicles have been assisted, according to a representative from the rescue services who spoke to public broadcaster SVT.
The police have initiated an investigation, as stated on their website, to determine if activities at a construction site nearby may have triggered the landslide.
It remains unclear if the landslide is related to any blasting or work conducted at the site, according to officials. Currently, there are no suspects in relation to any criminal activity. Specially trained personnel and search dogs will now be deployed by the rescue services to scour the area, with the possibility of additional slides not being dismissed.
