Devastating Blow: Kevin De Bruyne's Season Hangs in the Balance, Urgent Hamstring Surgery Looms

Man City's Kevin De Bruyne faces a potential four-month absence due to a recurring hamstring injury, as confirmed by coach Pep Guardiola The midfielder had to be substituted after 23 minutes in the recent 3-0 victory against Burnley, and previously experienced the same issue in last season's Champions League final

Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Kevin De Bruyne, the midfielder for Manchester City, is expected to be sidelined for a minimum of "three to four months" due to his persistent hamstring issues, potentially necessitating a surgical intervention. In City's 3-0 victory over Burnley on Friday Night Football, De Bruyne was substituted after 23 minutes.

The manager of City, Guardiola, stated on Tuesday that a decision needs to be made regarding whether surgery is necessary. Regardless, it is certain that he will be absent for several months. A final decision will be reached within the upcoming days.

"Surgery, in any case, will require a recovery period of three to four months."

Kevin's injury is a significant setback for us. However, we must also focus on the future. Kevin's skills are invaluable, but this situation presents an opportunity for others, and I am confident that they will seize it. The match at Turf Moor marked De Bruyne's return to the starting lineup, following a string of recurring hamstring injuries, which had forced him off during last season's Champions League final against Inter Milan.

Guardiola admitted that maybe they shouldn't have taken a chance to start him, as he had missed most of City's pre-season.

"But what happens in 15 minutes can be an injury in 60, 65, 70 when the fatigue comes in the legs, but we have an injury in 15 minutes."
