Alex Rodriguez got a big surprise when his eldest daughter, Natasha, showed up at the NBA playoffs.
The 48-year-old looked genuinely shocked as Natasha, 19, snuck up on him and her younger sister, Ella, while they were watching the Dallas Mavericks-Minnesota Timberwolves game in Dallas on Sunday, May 26. Ella tried to distract their dad by pointing at the jumbotron, but when Rodriguez saw Natasha approaching, he gave her a big hug. Natasha, who is finishing her freshman year in college, couldn't contain her excitement and did a happy dance.
"I was in disbelief!" said the former New York Yankee on Monday, May 27, on Instagram. "Ella and @thenatasharodriguez, you really surprised me."
Rodriguez, also known as "A-Rod," has daughters Natasha and Ella with his ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis. He tied the knot with Scurtis in 2002, but they went their separate ways six years later.
Rodriguez shared a special Instagram post in April to celebrate Ella's 16th birthday. He expressed how proud he is of her and how she brings light to every room she enters. The post included a carousel of photos showing Ella at different stages of her life: as a baby sitting on her dad's lap, as a young girl wearing a Yankees jersey, and as a teenager standing on a boat with Rodriguez under a double rainbow.

Last August, Rodriguez felt emotional as he left Natasha at the University of Michigan for her freshman year of college. He shared a series of photos on social media showing them smiling in her dorm room and around the Ann Arbor campus. In addition, he posted a video of himself waving goodbye from his car window while sitting next to his girlfriend, Jaclyn “Jac” Cordeiro.
In his post, he expressed his feelings, writing, “Left my heart in Michigan. Dropping off @thenatasharodriguez at college was one of the hardest, but most proud moments of being a father. Can’t wait to watch her take on this big new chapter.”
Rodriguez had a chat with We before Natasha started her BFA studies in performing arts. He mentioned that he encouraged her to also take business classes at Michigan alongside her acting studies. This was a condition he had set for her.
Natasha knows exactly what she wants in life, according to the retired MLB star.
Rodriguez praised her strong work ethic and determination, mentioning that she prefers to earn everything on her own without any shortcuts. He also described her as a special young lady with big dreams of performing in a major show like Hamilton.
