Demi Moore showed her serious side when it comes to Cher. During the 2024 AmfAR Gala at the Cannes Film Festival on Thursday, May 23, the G.I. Jane actress took a moment to address an audience member while introducing Cher to the stage.

Moore, 61, started her introduction by saying, "I’m gonna see if this is the moment we’ve all been waiting for. I’m just making sure that you’re really, really with me," as seen in a video posted on X.

She went on to say, "The woman I'm about to introduce is truly amazing. She has won a Grammy, an Oscar, and an Emmy."

Then, Moore's focus shifted to someone in the crowd. "Do we have an Emmy winner sitting in the back? I highly doubt it," she exclaimed, looking directly at the audience member.

Amid cheers and applause, the Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle actress continued with her introduction, praising Cher, 78, as a “style icon and my personal hair inspiration.”

“The bottom line is she’s just one of the most talented, successful, and best-loved performers of all time,” Moore, 61, said before Cher hit the stage to perform a medley of her hits.

Cher was captured in videos posted on X by Variety co-editor-in-chief Ramin Setoodeh. She appeared on stage wearing a blond wig while singing "Walking in Memphis." Later, she changed into a curly black wig for her performance of her hit song "Believe."

Cher and her boyfriend, Alexander “AE” Edwards, walked the red carpet together before the event. They even shared a kiss in front of the cameras. Cher also took photos with Moore, who hosted the gala.

This year's Cannes Film Festival has definitely had its fair share of drama.

Kelly Rowland had a tense moment with a security guard while walking the red carpet at the premiere of the French-Italian film Marcello Mio on Tuesday, May 21.

According to Rowland, 43, she told AP Entertainment on Thursday, May 23, "The woman knows what happened, I know what happened. I have a boundary and I stand by those boundaries, and that is it."

"I noticed that there were other women at the event who didn't look like me. They didn't face any scolding or pushing to leave," she mentioned.

"Even though she felt the need to assert herself, I stood my ground," Rowland explained. "I didn't back down."

Editor's P/S:

Demi Moore's bold address at the AmfAR Gala, where she questioned the presence of an Emmy winner in the audience, has sparked intrigue and speculation. While her intention to introduce Cher may have been genuine, the sudden shift in focus raised eyebrows, leaving attendees and viewers questioning her motive.

Moore's comment highlights the competitive nature of the entertainment industry, where accolades and recognition often serve as a measure of success. Her inquiry about an Emmy winner in the audience could be seen as a subtle way to assert Cher's superiority and emphasize her own status as a non-Emmy winner. Alternatively, it may have been an attempt to engage the audience and create a memorable moment during the introduction. Regardless of her intentions, Moore's comment has become a topic of discussion, adding another layer to the drama-filled Cannes Film Festival.
