Cha Hyun-soo is forced to make a choice

The 8th episode of Season 2 of Sweet Home begins with the soldiers continuing to explore the abandoned lab, where they took Dr. Lim to retrieve certain items. Meanwhile, at the hideout, In-hwan realizes that Ye-seul was the one who cut the power supply after finding her ring. While confronting Chief Ji, she conceals the fact that she told Ye-seul to do it. Chief Ji has sinister motives as she pressures Seung-wan to assist her.

She knows he is beginning to show signs of betrayal. Deceiving him, she lures him into a hidden basement room. Meanwhile, at the lab, two soldiers uncover a secret floor where humans are being transformed. They are confronted by attackers, but are saved by a well-dressed man who turns out to be a trap.

Dr. Lim is captivated by the monstrous cocoons discovered in the room. In another part of the lab, two soldiers come across a young girl. In the midst of all this, Hyun-soo seeks help from Eun-yoo and Chan-young to save Yi-kyung.

She is badly burned and has inhaled a lot of smoke from the boat fire. With no supplies, they are unable to do much to help her. Hyun-soo and Eun-yoo have a sincere conversation about the deaths of others and Eun-yoo's brother, who stayed behind because he was turning. Afterward, Hyun-soo is approached by Chan-young, who confesses that he is not the person Eun-yoo was looking for. He then sets off to find Ah-yi. In the garden, Ah-yi shows no remorse for her mother. Hyun-soo tries to reason with her, drawing on his own experience of losing his own parents.

Ah-yi agrees and urges Hyun-soo to save her. As Yi-kyung apologizes to her daughter, Ah-yi clutches her hand as she passes away. But it's not an act of love. Hyun-soo and Eun-yoo grieve her loss, only for her to convulse and her left side to darken. Ah-yi has transformed her into a monster. A conflict between Hyun-soo and Yi-kyung ensues.

Using his abilities, Hyun-soo glimpses her inner thoughts, memories, and wishes. He witnesses her struggle to be a mother and resist the urge to harm her daughter. Recognizing her torment and suffering, he has no other option but to end her life.

Sweet Home Season 2 ending brings back old characters

The ending to Sweet Home Season 2 reveals the monster cacoons at Green Home and the lab are monsters who never fully turned – with Lee Eun-hyuk being reborn.

The situation becomes dire as the remaining soldiers follow the young woman to find other people and discover a missing soldier in distress. Young-hoo instructs the girl to lead him to the others, and the missing soldier warns Seok-chan that they will not be allowed to go free. Young-hoo encounters the same man who had trapped the other soldiers in the lab, who soon reveals his disturbing intention to isolate and transform normal humans.

The soldiers uncover the truth that the young girl, man, and others are test subjects in the lab. Meanwhile, Dr. Lim is approached by a mysterious figure and decides to follow him. Back with Eun-yoo, she goes to check on Hyun-soo, only to discover that he is awake but not himself. His blue eyes indicate that his monstrous alter ego has taken over and has no intention of relinquishing control.

Dr. Lim is led by the man to the testing room of MH-1. The hooded man then instructs Dr. Lim to greet Sang-won, who is revealed to be submerged in a vat of liquid. As fans may have already figured out, Sang-won was Yi-kyung's fiancé and the hooded man is Ui-myeong.

In Episode 2, Eun-yoo and the rest of the group make their way back to Green Home in search of Eun-hyeok. They witness the hatching of one of the cocoons, revealing the reappearance of Ms. Im. They are reminded of her sacrifice as she transformed into a monster while trying to defend the children before her death. The Season 2 finale of Sweet Home ends with a suspenseful cliffhanger, leaving viewers curious about the circumstances that brought them back.
