DDG shared why he and his girlfriend Halle Bailey do not divide their finances equally.
"I believe in the concept of splitting expenses 50/50, but not really," the 26-year-old rapper expressed during an episode of "The Shade Room" podcast on Friday, April 26. "I cover a lot of our expenses. When you both have money, the idea of splitting everything equally doesn't really apply. It's a bit different for us."
The interviewer mentioned Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade as a couple who share household expenses equally. DDG responded by questioning, "If it's not affecting your finances, why make it an issue?"
The rapper, known as "She Don't Play," expressed his view on the topic. He shared that as a man, he believes it's his responsibility to cover expenses like dinner, Uber rides, and vacations. However, when it comes to their child, things are different. They may split the cost of a night nurse occasionally, emphasizing the importance of equality in parenting.
DDG, whose real name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., and Bailey became parents to their son Halo in December 2023. The couple made their relationship public in March 2022. However, there is one thing that DDG prefers not to share equally when it comes to their baby.

"He told 'The Shade Room' that he is Halle's stylist and made sure she knows that is his job. They collaborate now, but he takes charge when it comes to dressing up for special events like playdates. He believes he puts together the best outfits for her."
The rapper excitedly shared that he had bought a bustdown diamond chain for his son, which would arrive the next day. He mentioned that he and the jeweler collaborated on a design featuring the letter H with a halo on top, symbolizing both his and his son's names. The artist explained that the design reflected his desire for his son to have something from Halle, with H-A-L representing hers and H-A-L representing his name.
He expressed his enthusiasm about becoming a father, mentioning that he had always wanted to have a child. However, he admitted that he didn't truly feel like a parent until his son, Halo, was born. DDG also praised Bailey, his child's mother, for her role in their lives.
"She's incredibly caring and helpful," he shared. "She's not only nice, but also very funny. We have a great connection through our sense of humor. We can laugh together for hours, which is something she doesn't always reveal. During our first date, she led the conversation."

DDG's perspective on financial sharing in their relationship with Halle Bailey challenges conventional norms. While he supports equal partnership in parenting, he believes men should cover most household expenses. This view aligns with traditional gender roles, where the man is seen as the primary financial provider. However, the couple's approach is unique as they consider their individual financial situations, recognizing that splitting expenses equally may not be necessary when both partners have sufficient income.
DDG's role as Halle's stylist highlights the couple's collaborative and playful nature. His passion for fashion extends to dressing their son, demonstrating the importance he places on his family's appearance. The custom-designed necklace he created for Halo symbolizes the couple's love and unity, with the H representing both Halle and Halo. DDG's excitement over fatherhood and his admiration for Halle as a mother showcase their strong bond and mutual respect.
