DC Universe Online Introduces Epic Blue Beetle Update

Jamie Reyes, also known as the third Blue Beetle, has made appearances in multiple officially licensed video games in the past. One such game is Injustice 2, where he provided assistance to Batman's Insurgency.

In the game, players have the ability to summon Blue Beetle and make use of his formidable energy beams, Aggression Motivator skill, and Infiltrator Mode. These powerful tools can be utilized to defeat adversaries and secure advantages in intense battles.

DC Universe Online is introducing Blue Beetle as a playable character, joining the ranks of high-tech and high-flying heroes. Jaime Reyes, the third hero to don the Blue Beetle mantle, utilizes an extraterrestrial device known as the Scarab to create a formidable suit of armor, wield various weapons, and even take flight. Blue Beetle is not only making his mark in the gaming world but also in a live-action film, portrayed by Xolo Mariduena from Cobra Kai fame. Jamie has previously showcased his advanced weaponry in licensed video games tied to popular series such as Batman: The Brave and the Bold and Young Justice. He has also made appearances in titles like Infinite Crisis, Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure, as well as being featured as an unlockable mini-figure in Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham and Lego DC Super-Villains. Another notable appearance of Blue Beetle is in NetherRealm's Injustice 2, where he allies with Batman's Insurgency in the fight against Superman's One Earth Regime.

The DC Universe Online tie-in comic from 2011 featured the Jamie Reyes version of Blue Beetle in a minor role. Now, in the latest update, this incarnation of Blue Beetle has been added as a playable character in the game. From today onwards, players can summon the Blue Beetle, who possesses the ability to unleash powerful energy beams to defeat enemies. Jamie’s Aggression Motivator skill allows players to mark enemies, enabling them and their group to gain additional health or a power boost while attacking. Additionally, Blue Beetle’s Infiltrator Mode enhances the player’s Critical Weapon Chance when using a Weapon Buff ability.

Developed by Dimensional Ink Games and launched in 2011, DC Universe Online is a comic-based MMO where players can create their own original hero or villain and team up with iconic DC characters for various missions and battles. The game continues to expand with new storylines and campaigns, including the upcoming "Episode 46: Justice League Dark Cursed" chapter centered around Batman and Constantine, set to be released in October. Excitingly, DC Universe Online will also receive updates for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S this holiday season.
