On Tuesday, October 17, Jenna Lyons and Sarah Clary, close friends and business associates, were captured in New York City donning coordinating red dresses. The dresses boasted long sleeves and plunging necklines, perfectly complemented by their vibrant red lipstick and stylish square framed sunglasses. The duo confidently entered the popular Holiday Bar, showcasing their impeccable fashion choices.
Clary enhanced her appearance with small hoop earrings, a collection of bold rings, a large gold wristwatch, and black flat shoes. Lyons, 55, chose to wear layered necklaces and delicate earrings. Both of them had their hair sleeked back into low buns, and Clary held a glass of white wine by her side as they posed in front of the cameras.
Lyons and Clary initially crossed paths while working at J. Crew. In an interview featured on Lyons' blog, Clary shared that after enduring a challenging few years in a desk job at J. Crew, she was informed during her exit interview that Lyons had taken notice of her and wanted to offer her a position in the styling department as an assistant. "That's when everything changed for me," Clary reminisced. "She saw me, gave me an opportunity, and she has continued to do so ever since."
Clary and Lyons have maintained their friendship and professional collaboration throughout their careers. Currently, Clary holds the role of creative director for Lyons' most recent project, Lyons L.A.D. In addition, the two individuals appeared together in the reality TV series Stylish with Jenna Lyons, which aired on HBO Max in 2020.
Sarah Clary and Jenna Lyons, seen in the image above, serve as mentors and judges in a competition similar to a stylist's edition of Project Runway. A collective of aspiring stylist associates competes against each other, vying for the opportunity to join Lyons' expanding team. The duo assesses the contestants' skills and ultimately selects the most promising candidate to join their ranks.
During the same interview, Clary discussed her connection with the star of The Real Housewives of New York City. "Throughout my time with Jenna, I have held various roles: from being her assistant and freelancer to being her collaborator and friend. In each capacity, she has pushed me to improve, highlighted my strengths, and guided me in learning from my weaknesses." Clary proceeded to describe Lyons as a "brilliantly creative individual" who has consistently supported her, and she plans to reciprocate that support indefinitely.
Lyons, previously the Creative Director of J. Crew, departed from the company in 2017 after a 27-year tenure. In a March 2022 interview with The Today Show, Lyons divulged the challenges she encountered following her departure. "There came a point when I questioned how much more I could accomplish," she shared with interviewers. "After leaving, there was definitely a period where I felt completely adrift."
Lyons currently shines on RHONY and serves as the CEO of LoveSeen, a beauty brand specializing in false eyelashes, which she successfully launched in September 2020. With Clary as her unwavering support at her latest venture, there are no limits for either of these remarkable women.
