Daniel Radcliffe, currently 34 and starring in the musical Merrily We Roll Along, revealed in a recent interview published on Tuesday, October 17, that he has indeed read Harry Potter fan fiction. In particular, he was drawn to the stories that ship Harry with Draco Malfoy.
After Jonathan Groff asked him, “Have you ever read fan fiction about yourself?“ Radcliffe was honest in his reaction.
”Yes, aloud on TV,” he said, while Groff, 38, asked about specifics.
"I'm well aware of the widespread phenomenon of people shipping Harry and Draco as a couple," Radcliffe acknowledged. "So, I've come across some of that content."
When Groff inquired about the definition of "shipping," Radcliffe clarified that it refers to "when you desire two characters to form a relationship with each other."

Draco Lucius Malfoy, played by Tom Felton in all 8 films, is known for being a bully and a significant adversary to Harry, played by Radcliffe, in the series. However, fans have still adored the notion of the two characters being together.
In reality, Radcliffe has been in a romantic relationship with actress Erin Darke, whom he met on the set of the 2013 drama film Kill Your Darlings. The couple recently became parents to a son born in April.
In 2015, Radcliffe candidly revealed his attraction to Drake, 38, during the filming of a private scene in their movie. Recounting the experience, Radcliffe stated, "It captured our initial flirtation perfectly. It wasn't acting for me; I genuinely laughed as myself, not just as my character. She had a remarkable wit and intelligence. I could sense trouble brewing."
Felton, on his part, is currently involved romantically with Rozanne Danya, a jewelry designer whom he encountered in South Africa during the production of Origin in 2018. While briefly separated in 2019, the couple reconciled the subsequent year and have remained unified ever since.
In his Vanity Fair video, Radcliffe mentioned that he has come across even more contentious fan fiction about his character. He mentions reading a story where it was said that he "had the SAS walk my dogs." Additionally, another fan-written tale claimed that he enjoyed a "special beer brewed by monks in a Belgian monastery."
The Broadway actor also noted that he frequently gets mistaken for Elijah Wood, the famous star of the fantasy film franchise The Lord of the Rings, where Wood played the character Frodo Baggins. Radcliffe acknowledges the similarities between them, stating, "We both share traits of being short, pale, brown-haired actors with blue eyes. However, when we stand side by side, we don't actually look very similar. Nonetheless, conceptually, there is a connection between us."
Radcliffe has even signed photos for fans who thought he was Wood. Groff confirmed, “I’ve witnessed that. He’s telling the truth.”
