Daniel Radcliffe has once again responded to rumors about him taking on the role of Wolverine in an upcoming X-Men project. The 34-year-old Harry Potter actor has consistently been at the center of speculation regarding his potential casting as the popular character, previously portrayed by Hugh Jackman in the film series. These rumors gained traction once again earlier this year when photos were released from the set of Radcliffe's TBS comedy series Miracle Workers, where he was seen wearing only underwear and showcasing his muscular body.

In a recent Vanity Fair lie detector interview published on October 17th, the actor, along with his fellow cast members from the Broadway musical revival Merrily We Roll Along, found himself confronted with the question once again. With the lie detector machine monitoring his responses, Radcliffe was asked by his co-star Lindsay Mendez if he had initiated the Wolverine rumor. Responding with a denial, he was then challenged with the remark, "So you simply gained muscle for no purpose?"

"I achieved a muscular physique due to my obsession and desire to... You must have seen my parents; they're incredibly dedicated to their fitness regimen," Radcliffe disclosed. "So, naturally, that passion has been inherited. However, I must clarify that I have no intention of portraying Wolverine. I appreciate the compliment, but it's not something I'm pursuing."

In a GQ profile in 2022, Radcliffe had previously dismissed the rumors of him playing Wolverine, deeming them as nothing more than "purely a press tour rumor."

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly earlier that year, he also provided an explanation. "Wolverine is known for being short, so occasionally they inquire, 'Who could portray a short actor?'" he remarked. "Although there has never been any factual basis to these rumors. Sometimes, I grow weary of responding seriously to these questions, and instead, I jest, like I did recently. Unfortunately, this has sparked a renewed interest in the rumors, but in reality, there is no truth to them."

Despite becoming "bored" with the inquiries, Radcliffe expresses his openness to the speculation regarding his portrayal of the muscular Marvel character.

He expressed to EW, "I won't prevent anyone from pursuing their endeavors," adding that any similarity drawn between him and Hugh Jackman is deeply complimentary.

In September 2022, news surfaced that at the age of 55, Jackman is set to portray Wolverine once again in Deadpool 3, teaming up with Ryan Reynolds for the first time since their collaboration in Wolverine: Origins back in 2009.

The addition of Hugh Jackman to a movie like this is an effortless task. Reynolds, 46, expressed his enthusiasm without hesitation, stating, "It's a resounding yes." In order to bring this idea to fruition, Marvel had to navigate through various complexities involving Fox, X-Men, and other factors, but they successfully overcame all the obstacles. The release date for the film is scheduled for May 2024.
