Dana Carvey announced that his son Dex died due to an accidental drug overdose at 32 years old.

"Yesterday evening brought upon us a devastating tragedy. Our dear son, Dex, met an untimely demise due to an unintended drug overdose. At the age of 32, our hearts shatter as we penned this joint statement via Instagram on Thursday, November 16. Dex's existence encompassed an abundance of accomplishments over those three decades. He possessed an exceptional talent in various domains, including music, art, film making, and comedy, all of which he pursued with unwavering passion."

Carvey, aged 68, further expressed, "It would not be an overstatement to proclaim that Dex cherished life. His zest for living was infectious, infusing every encounter with joy and merriment. Yet, above all else, he held an immense love for his family, friends, and beloved girlfriend Kaylee."

Carvey reminisced about his cherished son and revealed that Dex would lovingly create unique birthday cards that were truly special. The comedian expressed his deep longing for Dex, emphasizing that his absence will be keenly felt. As a heartfelt message to those battling addiction or supporting someone in the same struggle, Carvey assured them of his thoughts and well wishes.

Carvey shared a collection of images showcasing Dex in consecutive updates. The first snapshot captured Dex wearing a bright smile on his face. In the second photo, Carvey and his son could be seen collaborating together, sharing a joyful laugh.

In addition to Dex, Carvey and Zwagerman share son Thomas who was born in 1994.
