Could Rose Make a Comeback on Doctor Who?

Rose, a pivotal character in the 60th Anniversary Specials, left fans wondering if she will make a comeback in future Doctor Who episodes Now, Russell T Davies has confirmed her return, leaving Whovians ecstatic for what lies ahead!

Will Rose make a comeback in future Doctor Who episodes after her appearance in the 60th Anniversary Specials? The specials featured a mix of familiar and new characters, such as Donna Noble played by Catherine Tate, the Doctor played by David Tennant, the Toymaker played by Neil Patrick Harris, and the new character Rose played by Yasmin Finney.

There have been some controversial discussions about the character's (and the actor's) identity, but Rose has gained popularity among many fans. There is now speculation about her potential return, with Doctor Who showrunner Russell T. Davies also weighing in on the matter.

It's important to clarify that in this article, we are referring to Rose as portrayed by Yasmin Finney, Donna's daughter, rather than Rose Tyler, portrayed by Billie Piper. If you want to know if Piper has recently appeared on Doctor Who, you can find out here.

Russell T. Davies confirms that Rose will return to Doctor Who

Yasmin Finney, renowned for her portrayal in Netflix's Heartstopper, made an appearance in the latest Doctor Who Anniversary Specials as Donna's daughter. She notably featured in the initial special, titled "The Star Beast," alongside Miriam Margolyes as the alien Beep the Meep.

As revealed in the final special, "The Giggle," it is possible for both David Tennant and Donna Noble to return in future episodes. This also leaves open the possibility for Rose to make a return as well. Showrunner and executive producer Russel T. Davies confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that the specials will not mark the end of Rose's appearances in the show.

"I wrote a trans character who is a teenager, part of a London family, and of mixed race, which is an unusual combination for a character," he explained. "The list of actors who could audition for that role is very short. Then Yasmin came along, and we knew she was perfect for the part! She's fantastic, and you'll see more of her in the future because I love working with her."

For now, Davies will be focusing on introducing us to the new companion Ruby Sunday, played by Millie Gibson, who will be joining the regenerated Doctor, played by Ncuti Gatwa, in the upcoming Christmas Special, titled "The Church on Ruby Road." Be sure to check out the trailer below.

Doctor Who will return to BBC iPlayer and Disney+ on Christmas Day. Classic episodes of Doctor Who are also available on BBC iPlayer. Check out more of our Doctor Who content here.
