Corbin Bleu can still showcase his jump roping skills after all these years.

"Double Dutch in between shows outside of our theatre! My [Off-Broadway’s Little Shop of Horrors] family knows how to bring the community together!" Bleu, who is 35 years old, wrote in the caption of an Instagram video posted on Sunday, May 27. "It's hard to believe it's been almost 20 years since I last did this."

In the clip, the star is seen jumping rope on a New York City street while his 2007 song “Push It to the Limit” from the Disney Channel Original Movie Jump In! plays in the background. Bleu appeared in the DCOM alongside Keke Palmer, which premiered in January 2007. (Bleu is currently playing Seymour Krelborn in an Off-Broadway production of Little Shop of Horrors.)

The movie follows the story of Izzy Daniels (Bleu), a teenage boxing prodigy who joins a Double Dutch team coached by his longtime friend Mary (Palmer). Throughout the film, Izzy must make a decision between pursuing a Golden Gloves championship like his father or helping his new friends win a regional Double Dutch championship.

The film’s director, Paul Hoen, mentioned in a January 2022 interview with Insider that both Bleu and Palmer, who are 30 years old, performed their own stunts while filming.

Hoen was impressed by the actors' ability to do their own jump roping stunts and learn all the difficult tricks involved. He highlighted how dedicated they were to mastering these skills on set.

Palmer reflected on her experience filming the movie and shared that her first on-screen kiss was with Bleu.

In an interview with Cosmopolitan in July 2020, Palmer, age 30, revealed, "That was my first kiss in life. Even though that wasn’t my real first kiss, it was my actual first kiss... I remember just feeling excited and it was cool because I had a cool person to kiss, Corbin is pretty good looking."

Palmer confessed that she felt "scared" too. She mentioned that the best part of filming the movie was being surrounded by people her own age.

Jump In! featured other actors besides Bleu and Palmer, such as David Reivers, Shanica Knowles, Patrick Johnson Jr., Laivan Greene, and Kylee Russell.

Director Hoen shared that despite "Jump In!" being a standalone DCOM, a significant amount of footage did not make it to the final cut.

He mentioned to Insider that it was a lengthy process to trim down the original 120 minutes of footage for television. While no complete scenes were removed, a major focus was on condensing the Double Dutch sequences. It was a challenge to maintain the flow and rhythm, especially during the competition scenes.
