Controversial VAR Decision Robs Liverpool's Luis Diaz of Spectacular Goal Against Tottenham, Sparks Outrage

Luis Diaz's goal for Liverpool against Tottenham was wrongly disallowed due to a 'significant human error', according to PGMOL Despite a brief VAR check, no clear lines were shown on replays Gary Neville described it as a terrible decision

PGMOL has admitted that Luis Diaz's goal for Liverpool at Tottenham was incorrectly disallowed due to a "significant human error." The on-pitch officials flagged offside for Diaz's first-half strike, and despite VAR, the decision was not overruled, with no lines shown on the replays.

The decision made by the refereeing body PGMOL has been recognized as a "clear and obvious factual error" and a thorough review will be carried out.

PGMOL issued a statement right after the game, stating: "PGMOL acknowledges that a significant human error took place in the first half of the Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool match."

and will take the necessary measures to prevent such errors in the future."

"PGMOL will immediately be contacting Liverpool at the conclusion of the fixture to acknowledge the error."

Neville: It's a really bad one

We' Gary Neville at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium:

"That was onside in my perception at the time. However, abruptly, I heard the VAR officials informing the referee about the completion of a check in my ear. There were no visible lines. The process was swift, indicating that something was evidently amiss.

"That is truly unbelievable and signifies a terribly poor decision."

I have been questioning whether we possess the appropriate cameras for these stadiums. It seems like we are no longer aligned. The ground staff never make mistakes with the lines on the pitch; their accuracy is astonishing.

While I have previously defended VAR as factual, I have recently observed two or three instances where I suspect the camera angle was incorrect behind the scenes.
