Fans have warmly welcomed the inclusion of move tagging in the latest update of Mortal Kombat 1, as it has made the game more user-friendly.
Countless Mortal Kombat 1 players have voiced their frustration on social media regarding the significant nerfs implemented in the game's most recent update. These complaints arose shortly after a surge of fan grievances concerning the frequent crashes experienced by PC users. Initially launched in mid-September, Mortal Kombat 1 initially received overwhelmingly positive reviews and generated a buzz of excitement within the fandom. However, NetherRealm Studios has since released numerous patches for the game on all platforms, with the most recent one beginning its rollout on Tuesday, October 24.
The recently released update has caused a stir among players, as early testing has revealed significant nerfs to characters such as Cyrax, Mileena, Baraka, and Scorpion. Fans have taken to social media to express their criticism, specifically regarding the change to Cyrax's horizontal spin attack, which now requires a full Kameo meter. Cyrax has been dominating the Mortal Kombat 1 meta due to the versatility and accessibility of his moveset, making this adjustment particularly controversial.
Additionally, many players have expressed displeasure with NetherRealm's decision to further reduce Scorpion's damage, arguing that winning with this beloved character was already challenging enough in the latest Mortal Kombat game. In October, the developers already made Scorpion less viable in competitive play by allowing high-parrying of his Twisted Kyo attack. The reaction on social media indicates a widespread dissatisfaction with these developments.
Meanwhile, some fans have chosen to criticize NetherRealm's decision to release the new update without providing patch notes. This has forced players to discover its contents through experimentation. However, the official Mortal Kombat 1 Twitter account has confirmed that the complete changelog for the update will be released soon. Despite this, early player reports indicate that the patch does not address the matchmaking issues in private King of the Hill matches, even though it introduces another KOTH mode to the game.
On a positive note, many fans are ecstatic about the addition of move tagging to Mortal Kombat 1. This popular feature, included in the latest update, allows players to pin moves to the HUD, making the game much more accessible.
Mortal Kombat 1 is available now on PC, PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X/S.
