Contrary Reports Debunk Notion of Rocksteady's Involvement in Superman Game

Contrary to previous reports, renowned studio Rocksteady did not develop a Superman game, as stated in an exclusive report Instead, they focused on a multiplayer project before diving into their highly anticipated Suicide Squad game

Rocksteady never developed a Superman game, despite the popular rumor, according to a Bloomberg report. After completing Batman: Arkham Knight in 2015, the studio shifted focus to Batman: Arkham VR. Following this, Rocksteady reportedly began work on an unannounced multiplayer game unrelated to the Arkham universe. In 2016, Warner Bros. studio in Montreal canceled a Suicide Squad game after the project was transferred to Rocksteady.

The game Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is set in the same universe as the Arkham franchises. Players will take on the roles of four DC villains in the Suicide Squad, with the task of killing the Justice League. Unlike the Arkham series, the game is set in Metropolis, home to Superman. Additionally, it will feature the late Kevin Conroy as Batman. Our preview of Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League discusses the intriguing premise of taking on the powerful Justice League in battle, but also notes the lack of innovation in the open-world missions compared to other similar games.

Editor's P/S

As a passionate fan of Rocksteady's Batman: Arkham series, I was initially excited about the prospect of them developing a Superman game. The studio's expertise in crafting immersive and engaging superhero experiences made me believe that they could do justice to the Man of Steel. However, the news that Rocksteady never actually worked on a Superman game left me feeling disappointed and curious about what could have been.

While I understand that the studio's focus shifted to other projects, I can't help but wonder what their take on Superman would have been like. Rocksteady's ability to capture the essence of Batman's character and translate it into an interactive experience is unparalleled, and I believe they could have brought the same level of excellence to a Superman game. The potential for epic boss battles, thrilling flight mechanics, and a compelling narrative set in Metropolis would have been truly exciting.
