Colin Farrell's two sons, James and Henry, still hold their dad to high standards despite their love for him.
During an interview with Extra TV on April 1, Farrell, 47, mentioned that his sons are now at an age where they have access to see almost anything. He acknowledged that much of his past work is not suitable for their age, even though they were younger when he did those projects. Farrell was promoting his new Apple TV+ series, "Sugar," set to premiere on April 5.
Farrell has two sons, James and Henry, with his ex-girlfriend Kim Bordenave and Alicja Bachleda-Curús, respectively. He mentioned that now that his kids are older, they can watch his movies and have become his own personal “Rotten Tomatoes committee” at home. Farrell jokingly shared that James and Henry are now his toughest critics, even though they try to be considerate of his feelings.
Farrell, known for his roles like The Penguin in The Batman, shared that his sons are not fans of him playing villainous characters.
During a 2020 interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Farrell mentioned, "They’re sick of me being a bad guy. Which apparently, reading between the lines, leads me to believe that they think I’m OK."
Farrell's youngest son, Henry, joined him at the Oscars in March 2023, despite his other kids being critical of his work. They both looked sharp in matching black-and-white tuxedos as they celebrated Farrell's first Oscar nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his role in The Banshees of Inisherin.
In addition to his acting career, Farrell is a devoted father to his two sons, showing great love and support, especially during tough times.
In May 2021, Farrell and his ex Bordenave, 52, requested to be coconservators of Farrell’s oldest son, James, because of his genetic disorder. James was diagnosed with Angelman syndrome, a condition that causes developmental delays and disabilities affecting the nervous system.
The petition highlighted that James is nonverbal and faces challenges with his fine motor skills, making it difficult for him to take care of his own physical health and well-being. As a result, he requires assistance with tasks such as preparing food, eating, bathing, and dressing himself.
