The official website for the Code Geass franchise announced on Monday, December 18, 2023, that a new anime film will be released in four parts, beginning in Spring 2024. A promotional video and the opening theme song for the film were also unveiled. Additionally, a key visual, starring cast, and main staff and production details for the series were released. Further casting announcements are anticipated in the months leading up to the premiere.

The latest Code Geass anime movie adds to the expansive franchise, which started with an original TV anime series in 2006 by Sunrise Studios. This was followed by a sequel TV anime series in 2008, along with various manga and original video anime in the years that came after.

The new Code Geass anime film has unveiled a wealth of important production details, along with the release of its promotional video earlier today. This includes the casting of Kohei Amasaki as Rozé, the titular character of the film's full title, Rozé of the Recapture, and Makoto Furukawa as Ashe.

Yoshimitsu Ohashi is directing the new anime, which is set to debut in Japanese theaters in May 2024 as the first of its four parts. Noboru Kimura is handling the scripts, with Takahiro Kimura once again in charge of character design, based on CLAMP's original designs. Junichi Akutsu is returning to design the Knightmare frames, while Kenji Kawai is composing the series' music.

Sunrise, Ichiro Okouchi, and Goro Taniguchi are all still credited for the original story. Satoshi Shigeta is handling the mechanical design, while Takahiro Kimura, Shuichi Shimamura, Seiichi Nakatani, Satoshi Shigeta, and Takashi Hashimoto are the main animators. Kazuhiro Obata is the art director, while Ami Kutsuna and Yuichi Kuboki are in charge of color design.

Shuji Shinoda directed the 3DCG animation at Buemon, and Jin Aketagawa served as the film’s sound director. Hiroyuki Chiba and Kumiko Sakamoto took on the roles of director of photography and editor, respectively. The film's opening theme song, titled Running In My Head, is performed by MIYAVI.

Following the release of the most recent installment in the franchise, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection, the film premiered in February 2019 in 120 theaters in Japan. Funimation screened the film in North America in May 2019. Producer Kojiro Taniguchi revealed in April 2019 that the film represents “phase 1” of a 10-year plan for new content in the franchise, suggesting that the new Code Geass anime film is also part of this long-term project.
