Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay and wife Veronika McVay are officially parents after welcoming baby No. 1.

The couple used the Rams' social media accounts to share the news of their son's birth, playfully referencing his involvement with the team. "LA Rams Transactions: Welcoming Jordan John McVay," wrote in a post on Wednesday, October 25 via X.

Despite being born earlier than expected on Tuesday, October 24, the NFL coach was unconcerned about any disruption to the Rams' schedule caused by the arrival of the baby.

During a press conference on October 16, Sean, aged 37, addressed the speculation surrounding his potential absence from a game: "There was a lot of talk about me missing a game, but I assure you that won't happen." He jokingly added, "My son is well aware not to arrive during a game, so we don't have to worry about that." This week, Sean's prediction came true as his little one was born days before the Rams' game against the Dallas Cowboys in Texas on Sunday, October 29.

The Rams playfully announced Jordan's arrival via Instagram on Wednesday, even on their day off. They posted a picture of a onesie with "McVay" written on the back, congratulating Coach McVay and Veronika. During the team's press conference on Wednesday, Sean spoke about his newborn and revealed that Jordan's middle name is a tribute to his late grandfather, John McVay. John was the coach of the New York Giants from 1976 to 1978 and later worked as an executive for the San Francisco 49ers. He passed away in October 2022 at the age of 91.

"His original due date coincided with a significant event in a rather mysterious way. It fell on the same day a year ago when my grandfather passed away on the 31st," Sean explained. "It's quite remarkable, and it makes you realize that there may be something extraordinary happening, even if you don't believe in a higher power."

The coach, who has won the Super Bowl, went on to say, "My family has always had a strong faith, and I personally am a man of faith. So, I found it truly impactful... you know, the profound influence that my grandfather had on me, as well as the rest of our family. He shared a special bond with Veronika too."

Sean stated that he believed it was fitting to bestow his son with the middle name in order to ensure his grandfather's legacy continues in a different manner. He further expressed his belief that his late grandfather would be pleased with the recent events.
