Cillian Murphy has had a career-defining year with his work on Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer, leading to strong speculation that he will be a top contender for numerous acting awards in the upcoming season. In addition to his film success, Murphy has spent the past decade starring in the hit TV series Peaky Blinders, which has attracted the attention of Hollywood star Margot Robbie.
During Vanity Fair's Actors on Actors, Murphy and Robbie engaged in an interview discussing the "Barbieheimer" phenomenon that took place over the summer. The conversation delved into the marketing of the films, their preparations for the roles, and the internet culture surrounding the movies, which have become widely popular for their meme potential. Robbie also expressed her admiration for Peaky Blinders, mentioning its adaptation into various games, including a VR version, and raising the possibility of a spin-off movie.
"Some people are absolutely obsessed with Peaky Blinders, while others haven't even seen it," Robbie mentioned. "I definitely fall into the first category, so can we please talk about Tommy Shelby for just a minute? I mean, that was years of your life... Do you think there will be a spinoff movie?"
Murphy revealed that it had been a decade of his career since they began shooting in 2012 but wasn't sure if any plans had been made yet. "I'm open to the idea. I've always thought that if there’s more story to tell."
Robbie pleaded with the star saying "please do it. Please!"
Steven Knight, Peaky Blinders creator, has recently been attached to writing a Star Wars movie down the line.

As a Gen Z fan of Peaky Blinders, I am thrilled at the prospect of a movie continuation of the beloved TV series. Cillian Murphy's portrayal of Tommy Shelby has been nothing short of iconic, and I can't imagine anyone else who could do the character justice. The show's unique blend of historical drama, gang violence, and family loyalty has captivated audiences worldwide, and I believe a movie could provide an even more immersive and cinematic experience.
The possibility of a spin-off movie also excites me. The world of Peaky Blinders is rich and complex, with many compelling characters and storylines that could be explored further. I would love to see more of the Shelby family's rise to power, as well as the personal struggles and conflicts that they face. A movie could also delve deeper into the historical context of the show, providing a greater understanding of the social and political forces that shaped the characters' lives.
