Cillian Murphy expresses willingness to make a comeback in Peaky Blinders

Cillian Murphy has expressed his openness to a spinoff movie by order of the Peaky Blinders. Despite the actors' strike, which has now been resolved, Murphy has been busy this year with the release of Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer, where he played the title role of the physicist.

Before achieving fame as the mastermind behind the atomic bomb, Murphy made a name for himself by portraying Tommy Shelby, the formidable leader of the Birmingham gang in the popular BBC period drama Peaky Blinders.

Following the finale of Season 6 last year, fans have been eagerly anticipating news of a possible Peaky Blinders movie, especially after series creator Steven Knight's decision to end the show.

Cillian Murphy is “open” to Peaky Blinders return

If you’re hoping for Peaky Blinders to return, we’ve got good news for you, as Murphy is “open” to the idea of a spinoff movie. 

During a recent Variety interview, the topic of conversation centered on the Barbenheimer phenomenon, featuring the two faces of the phenomenon: Murphy and Margot Robbie. As a devoted fan of Peaky Blinders, the Barbie star asked Murphy if there are plans for a spinoff movie, to which he responded, "I'm open to the idea."

“I’ve always thought that if there’s more story to tell,” he continues, at which point Robbie interjects: “Of course there’s more story to tell.”

The Oppenheimer star, while expressing his willingness, noted that he believes the show had a perfect six seasons and appreciates the ambiguity of the ending. However, he remains open to a great script and potential film adaptation. It is uncertain, but Peaky Blinders may follow in Luther's footsteps and release a film, and it appears that Tommy is on board if it does happen.

As a passionate fan of Peaky Blinders, I am thrilled at the possibility of a spinoff movie. The show was a huge success, and I believe there is still more story to tell.

Cillian Murphy was fantastic as Tommy Shelby, and I would love to see him reprise the role. He is a complex and fascinating character, and I would be interested to see where his story goes next.
