Leigh shared that her co-star Williams, who is 40 years old, frequently expresses his thoughts on social media about the love triangle drama, saying that his reactions are always entertaining.

In the second season that aired in January, Kat travels back to the 1800s in search of her missing younger brother, Jacob. During her time there, she forms a bond with Thomas, which upsets Elliot, who has had feelings for her since they were children.

Williams playfully teased Thomas for his physical appearance and suggested that he may have lice, jokingly poking fun at his character's new romantic rival in February. Despite the on-screen rivalry between Elliot and Thomas for Kat's attention, Leigh described Holden-Ried as a "lovely person."
