Christy Turlington shared a story from her son's basketball game where the opposing team passed around a nude photo of her to bully him. She expressed feeling surprised it hadn't happened sooner but also thought it was incredibly rude. This was mentioned in a feature from Harper’s Bazaar, released on Wednesday, April 24.

The photo that caused the issue was taken during one of Turlington's previous photo shoots. She explained that it was used as a way to bother her son, Finn, who is now 18 years old. The situation escalated when the school intervened, making it a bigger deal than it needed to be. Despite feeling like disappearing at the time, Turlington emphasized that she has no shame or regrets about the incident.

Turlington has been married to Edward Burns for nearly 21 years and they have two children together, Finn and Grace, who is 20 years old.

She usually prefers to blend in and not attract unnecessary attention, which made the incident surprising for her.

She mentioned, "I am usually quiet and observant of people. I believe I have learned how to avoid standing out. My mom never explicitly taught me how to protect myself. I simply paid close attention to my surroundings."

Turlington has shifted her focus to motherhood, not only continuing to model but also dedicating her time to her children Finn and Grace. She is also passionate about supporting mothers globally through her nonprofit organization, Every Mom Counts.

She founded the organization in 2010 and since then has helped over 1.5 million mothers make their pregnancies and births safer.

She expressed her gratitude for having the opportunity to model, mentioning that it is still her main source of income. She does not take a salary at Every Mother Counts as it doesn't feel right to her, but considers modeling as her primary job.

Turlington values her modeling career, which she has been pursuing since her teenage years. Just like how she handled a situation at her son's basketball game, she aims to not let others influence her self-perception. Following Grace's advice, she decided to disable comments on her Instagram to avoid any negative or hurtful remarks.

Turlington is aware that some people may see her as an aging model, rather than just a model, due to her age.

She mentioned, “I don’t want to be seen as the face of aging beauty. I will turn 60 in five years, so I am starting to think about what the next five years will hold for me personally.”
