According to court documents obtained by Page Six on Saturday, June 24, Christina Ricci, 43, has accused her ex-husband, James Heerdegen, 45, of preventing their son, Freddie, 8, from joining her on a recent work trip to New York City. Ricci claimed that although Heerdegen initially agreed to allow their son to accompany her, he later rescinded his approval.
In her recent court filing, the star of Yellowjackets, Ricci, expressed concern about Jimmy's refusal to agree. She believed his initial refusal to allow her to travel for additional dates was driven by vindictiveness and retaliation. Although Jimmy was initially open to the idea of letting Freddie accompany her on Monday, June 19, 2023, it seemed that he still wanted to postpone any serious discussion until their court hearing. Consequently, Ricci filed a motion to urgently request a court hearing to address their custody arrangement.

The actress from The Addams Family and Heerdegen got married in 2013. After six years of marriage, Ricci filed an emergency protective order due to domestic violence allegations. In July 2020, it was confirmed that the order had been granted, resulting in no contact between the two. Heerdegen was not arrested and did not address the allegations. Ricci filed for divorce in July and it was finalized in December 2022.
During their legal battle, Ricci requested full custody of Freddie. In April 2021, it was confirmed that Ricci was granted sole legal custody, while Heerdegen was given visitation rights. Ricci also agreed to cover the costs of Heerdegen's travel and accommodation to visit Freddie in Vancouver, where she was residing at the time.
Ricci revealed to the Sunday Times Style in November 2022 that she had amassed a collection of specific bags but eventually sold many of them due to various life challenges. These challenges included financial difficulties, prolonged court battles, custody disputes, and restraining order fights. She acknowledged that denial can be a powerful force, as nobody wants to accept that they've put themselves in the worst possible situation. It took her quite some time to come to this realization.
Ricci went on to marry hairstylist Mark Hampton in October 2021. They were blessed with a daughter, Cleopatra, two months later. In an interview on the Ellen DeGeneres Show in January 2022, Ricci revealed that they initially planned to call their daughter Cleo. However, right before Ricci's C-section, the topic of filling out the birth certificate came up, and Mark insisted on giving their daughter a full name. Ricci was indifferent at the time, but Mark was so thrilled that he announced their daughter's name, Cleopatra, on Instagram while Ricci was still in recovery. Despite originally intending for her to be called Cleo, Ricci expressed her satisfaction with the name Cleopatra, appreciating its regal connotation.
