Christina Applegate surpassed her own goals while on a recent vacation. The 52-year-old actress, who has been open about her struggles with multiple sclerosis since being diagnosed in 2021, revealed this achievement on the latest episode of her podcast "MeSsy" with Jamie-Lynn Sigler on Tuesday, April 9th.
During a family trip to The Netherlands and Paris, Applegate was surprised to find herself walking without her cane. At first, she relied on her cane but then felt it was holding her back. She described feeling like a strange superpower had taken over, allowing her to walk without her cane for the rest of the trip.
The actress, known for her role in Dead to Me, was amazed by her newfound level of activity. She mentioned that she hadn't exceeded 2,000 steps in a day for the past two years.
She mentioned that her Fitbit showed around 9,000 steps a day.
Applegate described the getaway as a fun family gathering and mentioned that her husband, Martyn LeNoble, has relatives in the Netherlands.

Applegate recently shared an update on her health on a podcast. She revealed that she had gone three weeks without taking a shower because her MS symptoms made it difficult for her to stand up in the shower.
She described experiencing intense tingling sensations that would come and go, starting from her butt and moving downwards. Applegate also mentioned having trouble sleeping for 24 hours due to her right eye shifting whenever she tried to close it.
She expressed her concerns, saying, "I definitely need to see someone because it's a little scary and freaking me out that my eye might burst out of my face. I'm also worried about my legs, they've never been this bad before, so I'm not sure what's going on."
Sigler, who is 42 years old and also has MS, shared on Tuesday that pushing herself out of her comfort zone during the trip to Europe seemed to have a positive impact on Applegate. She noted that while breaking away from her routine usually causes her stress, it had the opposite effect on Applegate.
"You mentioned to me that it felt like you had a purpose every day and you could see how much more you were capable of physically," she said. "I think it's crucial for you to recognize that."
Applegate acknowledged that the impact of her diagnosis can be overwhelming at times, leading her to feel like she doesn't want to make an effort. She revealed that despite being more active than expected during the trip, it was challenging for her to accept her reduced speed.
"It was tough being at the back of the group," she shared. "Feeling like the little caboose all the time was difficult. But then, everyone noticed and made an effort to stay with me, making me feel like we could walk at my speed too. So, I felt better about the situation."
