Chris Evans Clarifies Rumors Surrounding OG Avengers' Return to the MCU

Chris Evans, renowned for his iconic portrayal of Captain America in the MCU, responds to swirling rumors about his potential return to the franchise, stating that he remains unaware of any developments regarding his involvement

Chris Evans, widely recognized for his portrayal in the MCU, has recently spoken out about speculation surrounding his potential return as Captain America.

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the prominent heroes often at the center of attention are the formidable six: Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Hawkeye, and Black Widow.

Captain America made his live-action debut in 2011 with his first solo movie, leading to two sequels. In 2019's Avengers: Endgame, he met his demise in the MCU's Infinity Saga. Now, Chris Evans, the actor who portrayed him, has revealed whether he will return to the role.

Evans hasn’t heard any news about returning to the MCU

During an appearance on The View to promote his partnership with Jinx, pet food company, one of the hosts highlighted Evans time as Captain America.

Asked about the potential return of him and his former co-stars to their iconic roles, Evans responded, “You know, I always see those reports too, and it’s news to me. I think every couple months, someone says that they’re getting Downey, and Hemsworth, and Scarlet [Johansson], and everyone’s coming back!” He went on to say, “No one’s spoken to me about it. And look, I would never say never, but I really — I’m very protective. It’s a very precious role to me, so it would have to be just right.”

Evans hasn’t ruled out the possibility of continuing as Captain America entirely. During a panel at C2E2 in Chicago, he mentioned that there are still more chapters to Steve Rogers’ story.

"It's difficult, you know, because I have a deep affection for that role. The character means a lot to me, and I genuinely believe that there are more Steve Rogers stories to be told," Evans expressed.

"However, I am also extremely protective of it. It's like a cherished possession that I hold dear, and I'm hesitant to make any missteps with it. I was a part of something truly special for a specific period of time, and the impact of that is something I want to preserve."

As a Gen Z netizen, I grew up watching the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and Chris Evans' portrayal of Captain America was one of my favorites. I was thrilled when he returned for Avengers: Endgame, and I've been hoping for his return ever since.

Evans' comments about his potential return to the MCU are exciting, but I understand his hesitation. Captain America is a beloved character, and Evans wants to make sure that any future appearances are done right. I trust that Marvel Studios will handle his character with care, and I'm hopeful that we'll see him back in action soon.
