Goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic is set to undergo a medical examination with Chelsea in the coming 24-48 hours while the Blues conclude contract negotiations with Brazilian midfielder Deivid Washington. Chelsea has agreed to pay a fee of approximately £14m, which includes additional incentives based on performance, to New England Revolution for Petrovic. Furthermore, personal terms have been agreed upon with the Serbian international.
Chelsea's latest acquisition in the goalkeeping department, Petrovic, adds to their summer signings. This follows the arrival of Robert Sanchez from Brighton for a hefty £25m fee, as well as Kepa Arrizabalaga's loan move to Real Madrid and Edouard Mendy's transfer to Al Ahli. Petrovic, aged 23, has impressed with his exceptional performances for the New England Revolution, boasting an impressive record of seven clean sheets in 22 MLS games this season.
Meanwhile, Chelsea is finalizing the final details of Washington's contract, preparing for his move from Santos. The deal is worth €20m (£17.1m), including additional payments based on performance.

Washington from Forward Washington has successfully undergone his medical examination. Once the transfer is finalized, Chelsea will assess whether the 18-year-old talent will join the first-team roster for this season or if he will be sent on loan to gain regular playing time.
Chelsea have already signed eight players this summer for an approximate outlay of £350m.
Chelsea have genuinely impressed in their last two matches, both against Liverpool and West Ham. They exhibited strong performances on both occasions.
However, despite my admiration for their performance in those two matches, I believe Chelsea still requires additional players in order to challenge Manchester City. I am not referring to winning the league, but rather, I believe they still need a goalkeeper, despite recently acquiring Robert Sanchez. Additionally, I believe they would benefit from a top-quality center-half, considering Thiago Silva's age of 38.
There isn't a definitive goalscorer in my opinion. It's not necessary for your goalscorer to be your center-forward, as seen with Mohamed Salah from Liverpool who plays on the right wing. Therefore, this is not a criticism directed at Nicolas Jackson, as he has recently joined the club and I have been impressed by him.
However, when considering these crucial positions, it still appears that four players are needed to truly compete with Manchester City. This seems unjustified considering the significant amount of money they have already invested.
