Jump Festa 2024: Chainsaw Man announces Reze Arc anime film and upcoming manga volume
The Chainsaw Man stage was held at the RED Super Stage (Day 2) on December 17 at 3:30 pm JST and lasted approximately 40 minutes. The panel included Kikunosuke Toya (Denji), Shogo Sakata (Aki Hayakawa), Tomori Kusunoki (Makima), and Ai Fairouz (Power).
The event kicked off with animated panels showcasing the anime’s first season, accompanied by voiceovers from the voice actors. Following this, a teaser for the upcoming movie "Chainsaw Man the Movie – Reze Arc" was unveiled, and Reina Ueda (Reze) joined the panel. Additionally, the character visual for Reze was revealed at the end of the presentation.
The upcoming movie's key visual has been released (Image via MAPPA/ Shueisha/ Tatsuki Fujimoto). During the panel, the discussion focused on Ueda’s casting and the studio’s decision to adapt the Reze arc into a film instead of a second season. Additionally, a second teaser visual was unveiled and thoroughly analyzed, with particular attention given to the significance of the flowers that cover Reze.
The panelists selected their preferred scenes for the upcoming Chainsaw Man movie. Ueda favored the notorious "city mouse and village mouse" dialogue, Kusunoki picked the movie date between Denji and Makima, Toya opted for the pool scene, and Sakata chose Aki saving Angel Devil. Moving on, the Jump Festa 2024 panel discussed the second part of the manga, while cautioning Anime-only viewers. They presented and explained a relationship chart between characters from the second part and unveiled a panel from the forthcoming Chapter 151, featuring Denji asking, "Huh….. Are you crazy?"
During the upcoming manga panel (Image via Shueisha/ Tatsuki Fujimoto), the panelists proceeded to showcase their interpretations of their own devils along with accompanying artwork. Ai Fairouz, in particular, astounded fans with her artistic abilities and the intricate concept behind her "Rat Devil." They then sought the audience's vote, where Kusunoki's "Sleepiness Devil" posed a strong challenge to Fairouz.
The latest volume of the manga was revealed, accompanied by a message from mangaka Tatsuki Fujimoto, which Toya read aloud. In the message, Fujimoto detailed how the anime film Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade (1999) inspired the characters Denji and Reze, and encouraged everyone to watch it. The panelists concluded the Jump Fest 2024 stage by expressing gratitude to the fans with personal messages. For more information, visit the Jump Festa 2024 Day 1 announcements.
