As all Chainsaw Man manga fans are aware, the first part of the series concluded with Denji emerging victorious over Makima. After this, he decided to leave Public Safety and take on the responsibility of raising Nayuta, who is the reincarnation of the Control Devil, as his younger sister.

While Denji may seem like a hero for defeating Makima, the reality is that the way he achieved victory was quite brutal. Makima, who was the Control Devil, had made a pact with the Prime Minister of Japan to serve the government. This pact meant that any fatal injuries inflicted on Makima would be transferred to a random citizen of the country in the form of an illness or ailment.

Denji found it challenging to defeat Makima because she would always get back up no matter how many times he cut her down. To outsmart her, Denji pretended to be defeated and then used Power's blood to create a chainsaw, which he used to finally take down Makima.

The chainsaw made from Power's blood slowed down Makima's ability to heal quickly, unlike in other instances. Despite this setback, Makima was still able to regenerate slowly, proving to be a formidable opponent.

Denji found a way to bypass Makima's contract with the Prime Minister. The contract stated that it would only take effect if Makima was harmed. So, Denji cleverly bypassed this by not causing any harm to Makima.

Instead, he showed his love for her in a unique way - by committing cannibalism. This act effectively merged him with Makima, preventing her from being able to regenerate back to her original form.

In Chainsaw Man Chapter 156, Denji now faces a similar fate to what he did to Makima. He had to consume Makima's body by dismembering her and eating her body parts each day. However, the current situation Denji is facing in the manga, although still terrible, is not as gruesome. He is only being detained and not being eaten.

The reason for Denji's detention is the same as Makima's. Public Safety officers were unable to kill Denji or defeat the Control Devil Pochita. Therefore, as shown in Chainsaw Man Chapter 156, they have no choice but to dismember him and isolate his body parts.

Editor's P/S:

The fate of Denji in Chainsaw Man Chapter 156 is a haunting reflection of the horrors he inflicted upon Makima. The tables have turned, leaving him to endure the same gruesome reality he once imposed. This moment serves as a chilling reminder of the consequences of one's actions, highlighting the cyclical nature of violence and the futility of vengeance.

Despite the grim turn of events, there is a glimmer of hope amidst the despair. Denji's past actions, though brutal, were driven by his desire to protect those he cared about. His love for Power and his determination to defeat Makima, even at the cost of his own humanity, speak to his unwavering loyalty and the strength of his spirit. Perhaps, within the darkness that now surrounds him, Denji's resilience will once again shine through, guiding him towards a path of redemption and a brighter future.
