One of Murray's most talked-about relationships was with his One Tree Hill costar, Sophia Bush, who played the role of Brooke Davis. Their on-screen characters, Lucas Scott (Murray) and Brooke Davis (Bush), were romantically involved, and their connection extended beyond the show's set.

Murray and Bush tied the knot in April 2005, only to announce their separation a mere five months later. Throughout the years, both individuals have made efforts to keep their short-lived marriage under wraps.

In a December 2018 interview on the "Armchair Expert" podcast, Bush expressed her frustration with the public's fascination towards their youthful mistakes. She questioned why, despite their accomplished adult lives, people still felt the need to discuss the foolish decisions they made during their college days. To illustrate her point, she compared it to irrelevant inquiries in other professional settings, highlighting how no one would inquire about a CEO's college party experiences during important meetings.

Murray had a few other public relationships before finally settling down with Roemer in 2015.

Chad Michael Murray has discovered love with his wife Sarah Roemer, however, his romantic past has been a rollercoaster ride.

One of Murray's most extensively covered relationships was with his One Tree Hill co-star, Sophia Bush. Their on-screen characters, Lucas Scott (played by Murray) and Brooke Davis (played by Bush), were involved in a romantic relationship, and their off-screen bond strengthened when the cameras were turned off.

In April 2005, Murray and Bush tied the knot, only to announce their separation a mere five months later. Throughout the years, both individuals have made efforts to remain silent regarding their short-lived marriage.

During her appearance on the "Armchair Expert" podcast in December 2018, Bush expressed her frustration by stating, "Everyone has made foolish mistakes during their youth, but for some reason, when you're established adults who have accomplished incredible things in life, people still want to dwell on the silly decisions you made in college. This perplexes me because, in any other context, individuals attending a CEO's meeting would not bring up their past experiences at a college party."

After their breakup, both of them continued to stay on One Tree Hill for many years, until Murray exited the show in 2009. Several years afterwards, he met and married his wife.

Prior to his 2015 commitment to Roemer, Murray had also been involved in several other public relationships.

Erin Foster

Foster and Murray began dating in 2001. Over two decades later, Foster brought up their relationship on an episode of her podcast "Barely Famous" in October 2023. She stated that Murray had "definitely cheated" on her with Bush in a manner that was quite offensive. The discussion arose when Foster's dating history was mentioned by Instagram gossip account Deux Moi.

“I’ve moved on though, I’m over it. Just barely,” she joked.

Sophia Bush

Murray and Bush publicly revealed their relationship in 2003. Subsequently, they got married in April 2005, yet the annulment papers cited fraud as the reason for their separation. Despite the dismissal of her annulment plea, they finalized their divorce in December 2006. In a 2018 interview with Andy Cohen on Radio Andy, Bush confessed that marrying Murray was something she did not genuinely desire.

Murray responded to the "absurd" story by issuing a statement to Us.

According to the statement, Chad always behaves professionally and would only get married out of love. It also mentioned that it has been thirteen years since his divorce from Sophia and he currently has a joyful family life with his wife and children. Chad has fully moved on and sees no reason to partake in such actions.

Kenzie Dalton

On the set of One Tree Hill, Murray and Dalton crossed paths while she portrayed a background cheerleader, sparking a romantic relationship. Their engagement lasted for seven years until they ended their union in 2013.

"Chad Michael Murray and Kenzie Dalton quietly parted ways earlier in the year," his rep confirmed to Us at the time. "Please respect their privacy at this time."
