Cassie has settled the lawsuit that accused ex-boyfriend Sean “Diddy” Combs of sexual assault and abuse, We can confirm.
"I have chosen to peacefully settle this issue under terms that allow me to maintain a certain degree of control," shared Cassie, 37, in a statement released by her attorney Douglas Wigdor on Friday, November 17. "I would like to express my appreciation to my family, fans, and legal team for their unwavering support."
Diddy also issued a statement through Wigdor, stating, "We have mutually agreed to resolve this matter amicably. I sincerely wish Cassie and her family nothing but the best. Love."
The settlement was announced the day after the singer, known as Casandra Ventura, filed a lawsuit accusing Diddy, 54, of exerting control over her during their relationship through drug use, physical abuse, and coercion into engaging in sexual activities with male prostitutes on camera. In addition, she alleged that Diddy forcefully entered her home in 2018 and sexually assaulted her. The couple had an on-and-off relationship from 2007 to 2018. Cassie, in a statement to The New York Times on Thursday, November 16, stated, "After enduring years of silence and darkness, I am finally ready to share my story and speak out on behalf of myself and other women who experience violence and abuse in their relationships."
In her filing, obtained by Us, Cassie claimed that Diddy had threatened to detonate Kid Cudi's vehicle. The documents also mentioned that during that period, Kid Cudi's car exploded in his driveway. A representative for Cudi, whom Cassie began dating while she was separated from Diddy, confirmed the truthfulness of Cassie's allegation to the NY Times. On the other hand, Diddy's legal team released a statement denying the accusation on the same day.
"Mr. Combs categorically denies these offensive and shocking allegations. Over the past six months, Mr. Combs has been repeatedly pressured by Ms. Ventura to pay her an exorbitant sum of $30 million, under the threat of publishing a damaging book about their relationship. This demand was clearly dismissed as nothing more than blatant blackmail," stated Diddy's attorney, Ben Brafman, in an interview with the New York Times. He added, "Despite retracting her initial threat, Ms. Ventura has now resorted to filing a lawsuit filled with unsubstantiated and outrageous falsehoods, with the aim of defaming Mr. Combs's reputation and seeking financial gain."
Cassie's legal team alleged that she declined a multimillion-dollar offer from Diddy, claiming it was an attempt to impose silence upon her.
