With the release of Modern Warfare 3 getting closer, fans are eagerly anticipating the opportunity to delve into the game's story mode, especially with the early access mode for the campaign. However, concerns have arisen regarding the availability of content from Modern Warfare 2 in Modern Warfare 3. Players have invested significant time and effort in acquiring a variety of weapons, cosmetic items, and Operators in Modern Warfare 2, and they hope for a seamless transfer of these assets to MW3.
One particular concern revolves around COD points, the in-game currency that players purchase within the Call of Duty franchise. Given that players exchange real currency for COD points, it is entirely reasonable for them to desire the seamless transfer of these points to MW3; otherwise, their money would be wasted.
Can Players Transfer COD Points from MW2 to MW3?
Users are able to transfer all of their COD points from MW2 and Warzone to Modern Warfare 3. The transfer will take place once MW3 is launched and players log into their accounts. It is important to note that there are some limitations to the transfer of COD points. Activision only allows COD points to be transferred within the same account and platform.
To provide an example, if a player earns CP on one user account and then uses a different account to log into and play MW3, their COD points will not carry over. According to Activision, these are considered as two separate accounts belonging to different users. Players who wish to transfer their CP from their MW2 account to MW3 must use the same account to play MW3. This rule also applies to other acquired content such as cosmetics, weapons, Operation Nightmare bosses, and skins.
Likewise, transferring COD points from MW2 to MW3 is not possible when players switch platforms. This implies that CP cannot be transferred between PlayStation, Xbox, or PC. For instance, if players use PlayStation to access Modern Warfare 2, they must continue playing Modern Warfare 3 on PlayStation in order to retain their COD points. Activision imposes restrictions, only permitting CP transfer within the same game console, such as from PS4 to PS5 or from Xbox Series X to Xbox Series S or Xbox One.
Moreover, players who switch consoles will also forfeit their operator skins, weapon skins, blueprints, and cosmetics. Hence, those who wish to upgrade their console should take caution as they risk losing all their game progress, including acquired assault rifles and arsenal, prior to proceeding.
In order to prevent players from starting over and losing their money, it is essential for them to utilize the same account and platform to access and play Modern Warfare 3 upon its release. Modern Warfare 3 will be available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S starting from November 10th.
Editor's P/S
As a passionate fan of the Call of Duty franchise, I am thrilled about the upcoming release of Modern Warfare 3. However, I share the concerns of many players regarding the transfer of content from Modern Warfare 2 to MW3, particularly concerning COD points.
The fact that COD points can be transferred from MW2 to MW3 is a relief, ensuring that players' investment in the game will not be wasted. However, the limitations imposed by Activision, such as only allowing transfers within the same account and platform, can be frustrating. It is understandable that these restrictions are in place to prevent fraud and abuse, but it would be beneficial if Activision could find a way to make the transfer process more flexible.
Overall, I am excited about the release of Modern Warfare 3 and the opportunity to continue my journey in the Call of Duty universe. While the limitations on transferring content can be inconvenient, I appreciate Activision's efforts to maintain the integrity of the game and ensure a fair playing field for all players.
