During an interview with Apple Music 1 on Wednesday, January 10, Jennifer Lopez, 54, got emotional talking about her first meeting with Brie Larson at the Golden Globes, describing it as a touching moment as both artists shared their heart and soul in their work.

Lopez and Larson, 34, first crossed paths on the red carpet of the awards show on Sunday, January 7. While Larson was being interviewed before the event, she caught sight of Lopez and was moved to tears by her admiration for the "On the Floor" singer and the inspiration she has provided over the years. This emotional reaction from Larson struck a chord with Lopez, who shared her own experience of being profoundly inspired by Rita Moreno in West Side Story as a young girl, making the moment between the two stars even more meaningful.

Lopez revealed that seeing herself as a "little girl" in Larson and understanding the impact she had on the Marvel star was an incredibly overwhelming experience. She admitted that it was unexpected but very touching to realize she had inspired one of her peers. "I never thought I would have an encounter like that with someone so talented and whose work I admire," she added. "It was a very kind gesture on her part, and it meant a great deal to me, perhaps even more than it did to her."

Both women clearly valued their interaction, with Larson expressing gratitude for Lopez's early work, particularly the 1997 film "Selena," which inspired her to pursue acting. Lopez was moved by Larson's words, responding, "Oh, my God, don't make me cry."

Larson expressed to Lopez that meeting her has been a long-time dream and went on to praise her work ethic, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to finally share those feelings.

This year at the Golden Globes, Lopez had more than one viral moment, including her exchange with Larson and addressing husband Ben Affleck’s paparazzi photos that circulate online. During a red carpet interview with Entertainment Tonight, Lopez reassured fans that Affleck is doing well and expressed confusion over the attention surrounding his expressions in the photos.

She added, “They don’t pick up on my face.”

Lopez accompanied Affleck to the awards show to show her support for him. His film Air, released in 2023, was nominated for Best Picture, Musical or Comedy. It ultimately lost to Poor Things, a black comedy starring Emma Stone. Despite the outcome, Lopez was content being there with her husband.

"He is my greatest admirer and strongest advocate, just as I am for him. I am thrilled to be here tonight because he is nominated," Lopez shared during Variety and ET's official red carpet pre-show.
