Bridget Everett gushed about her Somebody Somewhere co-star Jeff Hiller, describing him as charming, funny, and warm. During an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, the comedian shared that meeting Jeff was a pleasure and falling in love with his personality was effortless. Bridget likened Jeff's aura to that of a warm summer night, where one can relax with a glass of wine and bask in his light. Simply put, being around Jeff felt perfect.
In the upcoming season of the HBO dramedy, Everett and Hiller, who play Sam and Joel respectively, will face a hurdle in their friendship as Joel begins a romantic relationship with Brad (played by Tim Bagley). When asked about the future of their characters' bond, Everett shared that they would have to evolve and navigate the challenges that come with Joel's new relationship. Despite the age difference between the characters, Everett sees it as a positive problem to have and believes that Sam's presence in Joel's life doesn't necessarily have to disappear.
Throughout the series, Everett's character has been struggling to cope with a midlife crisis that began after the tragic passing of her sister, Darlene. As an executive producer and star of the show, Everett's personal experiences served as the foundation for the creation of the series.
During the filming of the semi-autobiographical series, Everett shared her experience of losing her sister Brinton to cancer in 2008. She confided in Us that the show has been a therapeutic journey for her, allowing her to process her grief and find closure. With pride, she stated how much her sister would have appreciated her work on the show, calling it a love letter to her memory. Everett expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to grow and heal through this experience.
Both Everett and her character on the HBO show share a love for music, which is the driving force for both of them. However, while certain aspects of Everett's life are incorporated into the plot, she has made it clear that she and her character are not identical. As the lead singer of her band, The Tender Moments, Everett draws inspiration from her character's emotional growth and adaptation to life's changes, which she finds to be a real learning curve.
Somebody Somewhere is available to stream on HBO Max.
