Claudia Jessie's character Eloise in Bridgerton season 3 wore large muffs to hide a broken wrist.

In an interview with Stephen Colbert on May 17, Jessie, 34, shared that she arrived on set at 8 a.m. one Friday morning before filming had even begun. She recalled the moment she did a high kick to lift everyone's spirits.

The actress then shared that the tight costume she had on made her fall backward and break her wrist.

She described how she heard a ringing sound go from one ear to the other, causing her to experience intense pain and temporary hearing loss.

Due to the lack of casts during the Regency era in England, the Bridgerton costume team had to hide Jessie's hand cast with a large muff for season three, even though it was filmed in the summer.

Claudia Jessie shared with Stephen Colbert that they jokingly referred to something as the "summer muff." They made up the term and decided to call it that.

Season 3 of Bridgerton premiered on May 16 with four hour-long episodes. The next part, Part 2, is scheduled to be released on June 13. Viewers can expect plenty of summer romance and drama, especially as they follow the developing love story between Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton).

Even though Jessie has been a part of the Bridgerton cast since its debut in 2020, she admitted to Colbert that she still feels nervous before filming a new season.

"I still struggle with self-esteem and confidence when I return to work," she admitted. "I still feel nervous before filming."

Editor's P/S:

Claudia Jessie's injury and the subsequent use of the "summer muff" in Bridgerton season 3 highlight the challenges of filming period dramas, where authenticity must be balanced with practicality. The Regency era's lack of casts presented a unique problem for the costume team, who had to find a way to conceal Jessie's hand injury while maintaining the show's historical accuracy. The "summer muff" was a creative solution that allowed Jessie to continue filming while adding a touch of humor to the situation.

Jessie's admission of nervousness before filming a new season of Bridgerton is relatable to many actors, who often experience self-doubt and anxiety despite their experience and success. Her honesty about her struggles with self-esteem and confidence shows that even those in the spotlight can be affected by these common emotions. It also demonstrates the importance of self-care and support for actors, who may face pressure and criticism in their demanding profession.
