Popular English VTuber Nina Kosaka has announced her departure from the renowned VTuber agency Nijisanji. Her final streaming session will take place next month. As VTubers gained immense popularity in early 2020, Nijisanji emerged as one of the leading companies in the rapidly expanding industry. With almost 200 VTubers on their roster, Nijisanji represents various languages including English, Chinese, Japanese, and Indonesian. However, now it is time to bid farewell to one of their most beloved English VTubers.
Nina Kosaka made her debut as a VTuber on October 9th, 2021, joining Nijisanji's English-speaking branch known as "Ethyria." Alongside fellow VTubers Millie Parfait, Enna Alouette, and Reimu Endou, Nina quickly gained popularity. With an impressive 567,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel, Nina is the second most followed among her genmates, only surpassed by Enna. Now, Nina has officially confirmed her departure from Nijisanji, marking her graduation from the VTuber agency.
Nina will officially announce her upcoming graduation from Nijisanji on Monday afternoon, accompanied by an official statement from the VTuber agency. Her decision to leave the agency is based on her personal evaluation of her performance as a VTuber, feeling that she has not met her own standards and wishing to focus on personal growth. Nina expressed gratitude to Nijisanji and her Ethyria colleagues for their friendship and understanding during her time with Nijisanji. Her final livestream is scheduled for July 7th, after which all previous content on her channel will be made private.
Nina's departure from Nijisanji is not the first for the VTuber agency this year in terms of losing one of its prominent English members. The agency faced controversy earlier this year due to the sudden and unexpected termination of another member, Zaion Lanza, from Nijisanji EN. The agency's statement following Zaion's departure accused her of various wrongdoings during her time with Nijisanji, including slander and violations of non-disclosure agreements. With Nina's departure, Nijisanji EN will continue with a lineup of 32 talents, with its eighth wave, Krisis, having debuted earlier this month.
The gaming industry has been greatly influenced by the significant rise of VTubers, who have not only made cameo appearances but also taken on starring roles. One prominent VTuber, Kson, achieved a remarkable feat by winning a major competition for the highly anticipated Like a Dragon 8. As a result, she earned the opportunity to portray a hostess character in the game. Remarkably, some fans have gone as far as creating entire games centered around VTubers. For instance, the recently released indie fighting game Idol Showdown features cast members from the popular VTuber agency Hololive. Fans will undoubtedly feel a profound sense of melancholy with Nina Kosaka's departure, fondly remembering her as "Fox Mom," the beloved creator.
