Evelyn Lozada and Lavon Lewis have decided to end their whirlwind relationship.

The Basketball Wives celebrity, aged 47, confirmed the news to We on Thursday, October 19th. Lozada and Lewis, aged 42, had gotten engaged in December 2022 after finding love on the dating show Queen's Court, which aired on the Peacock streaming service in March.

"Things escalated quickly. Within six months, we were engaged, but I began to feel a slight disconnect. The distance between us, with him living in Atlanta, added another layer of difficulty," Lozada revealed while promoting Basketball Wives. "He also has a son who may have just started high school or is about to. With so many factors at play, it became increasingly challenging, and I ultimately decided that I didn't want to continue the relationship solely for public perception."

Lozada continued by expressing that both of them agreed that going separate ways was the best decision. She added, "I'm grateful that we can maintain a mature friendship."

The reality star has revealed that fans will witness their breakup on season 11 of Basketball Wives, which aired on VH1 earlier this month. In the last episode, she was seen crying with Shaunie O'Neal at an event, marking the beginning of the end for her relationship. Despite the split, they remain good friends and continue to work together.

Planning their wedding caused anxiety for Lozada, partly due to her previous short-lived marriage to Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson. She elaborated on this, saying that she had never expected to feel anxious about getting married again after her previous experience. In 2012, she married the former NFL star but divorced him just 42 days later following a domestic violence incident that led to his arrest.

Lozada expressed that she believes her emotional connection to the incident and her past marriage has deep roots. She has undergone therapy to address these issues. Reflecting on her wedding day brings back difficult memories for her. She got married on the 4th of July but by August, she was already filing for divorce.

In addition, Lozada mentioned that the short six-week filming schedule of Queen's Court didn't provide enough time for her and Lewis to build a strong foundation in their relationship. She explained that everything was moving fast, with numerous questions being asked when dating different guys on the show. Despite their efforts to spend time together, he could only visit Los Angeles once a month.

Lozada mentioned that if their relationship doesn't feel fully satisfying, she recognizes it. She explained that their differing backgrounds, with her being from the Bronx and him from Alabama, also contributed to a slight disconnect. Despite the split, Lozada holds no animosity towards her ex-fiancé, wishing him the best and expressing her willingness to attend his future wedding. She appreciates his positive demeanor and emphasizes that not all breakups need to be negative experiences.

New episodes of Basketball Wives air on VH1 Mondays at 9 p.m. ET.
