In 2023, the MCU will reach a significant milestone as Ms Marvel, the first Marvel Disney+ TV show, will be available to watch on platforms other than streaming. The first three episodes of Ms Marvel are scheduled to be broadcasted on Saturday, August 5th, 2023, from 8 pm to 11 pm ET. Following that, episodes 4-6 will be aired on Saturday, August 12th, 2023. It is important to note that Ms Marvel will remain available on Disney+ and will not be taken down.

Ms Marvel Should Kickstart A Return To Broadcasting For The MCU

With the simultaneous release of The Marvels and Marvel Comics' reboot of Ms Marvel, both involving Iman Vellani, it is highly unlikely that this is a response to strikes. However, Marvel Studios should still consider a departure from the streaming exclusive model. The strikes have sparked a renewed discussion on the ethical aspects of streaming residuals, with actors and writers protesting the ongoing payment terms for streaming platform content. By licensing streaming originals to linear TV channels, both parties could benefit. It would reintroduce traditional residuals and generate additional revenue for the license owners through increased audience visibility.

Considering the declining viewership numbers for Secret Invasion, despite its quality and high production cost, action needs to be taken. Warner Bros and Max have already disclosed plans to license previously exclusive HBO content to other platforms for revenue opportunities. Disney should follow suit.
