Rob Mariano, also known as "Boston Rob," believes that none of his fellow Survivor contestants can match his achievements on Deal or No Deal Island. In an exclusive interview with We on Friday, April 19, the 48-year-old stated that he has set the bar high for anyone following in his footsteps. According to Mariano, those who compete on the island will face a tough challenge as they will likely be targeted early on in the game.
The new NBC competition series welcomed the former Survivor winner to the island, where he joined 12 other players. One familiar face in the cast was Claudia Jordan, known for her role as a Deal or No Deal Model.
Mariano acknowledged that his reputation would put a target on his back. Despite this, he remained focused on proving himself as a strong competitor, knowing that there would always be a chance for others to target him later on.
Mariano, with extensive experience in island-themed shows, approached the game by aiming to prove his value to his fellow competitors early on.
"I can contribute to increasing the prize total. I excel in the challenges that we are facing now," he mentioned. "I want to show that I am not someone you would want to eliminate right away."

Mariano has been a strong contender in the competition, having won immunity four times since the show began airing in February. The outcome of his performance in the game is yet to be revealed.
During a game of Deal or No Deal early in the season, Mariano faced a challenging situation. He quickly eliminated several high-value cases, which made it seem like luck was not on his side. However, he remained determined and realized that he still had a chance to negotiate a good deal and continue in the game.

It's a bit of a challenge for viewers to understand the strategy behind the show. When I play the game, it's actually in my best interest to eliminate the larger cases. This gives me a better chance to stay in the game and make a good deal. However, the audience watching at home wants to see the case values increase. It's not a conflict of interest, but more of a balancing act. I focus on staying in the game, regardless of how big the prize pot grows.
Mariano's approach to the game proved successful against the banker. He advises future Deal or No Deal Island players to take a similar approach.
"I always wanted to have control over my own destiny. I realized that in this game, there are situations where you can lose that control," he explained. "For example, if you're in the middle and someone else is the banker, they could eliminate you if you don't have immunity. So, I made sure to stay away from those risky situations. I believe anyone playing this game should be aware of their position."
Deal or No Deal Island is shown on NBC on Mondays at 10 p.m. EST.
