While viewers only caught a glimpse of the exterior of Voyager in Picard, a trailer for Star Trek: Lower Decks season 4, shown at San Diego Comic-Con, briefly showcased the interior of the iconic starship.

Janeway's Voyager Returns In Star Trek Lower Decks Season 4

In Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Ensigns Brad Boimler and Beckett Mariner were shown to have a fondness for visiting the Starfleet museum. Now, it seems they will be making another trip to the museum in season 4 of Star Trek: Lower Decks. In the season 4 trailer, we catch glimpses of Boimler and Mariner on the bridge of the USS Voyager, alongside a dummy resembling Lt. Tom Paris. However, their museum visit takes a terrifying turn as they are attacked by giant sentient viruses from the Voyager episode "Macrocosm", much to the horror of their guide. It's unclear whether this is a simple joke or part of a larger crossover storyline between Lower Decks and Voyager. In the past, Lower Decks season 3 had a crossover with Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, so it's possible that Boimler and Mariner could find themselves trapped in the USS Voyager exhibit for an episode, reminiscent of the movie Night at the Museum.

Will Voyager Characters Appear In Star Trek Lower Decks Season 4?

Tom Paris made an appearance in "We'll Always Have Tom Paris", an episode of Star Trek: Lower Decks season 2. However, this was before Star Trek: Prodigy started streaming on Paramount+. It has been revealed that certain characters from Star Trek: Voyager now "belong" to Prodigy, potentially preventing their appearances in Lower Decks. For example, the EMH Doctor from Voyager will have a role in Prodigy season 2 as the new holographic mentor for the Protostar's former crew. Ensign Harry Kim may also make an appearance, considering that Terry Matalas' proposed cameo for Kim in Star Trek: Picard was rejected.

Due to these circumstances, it is unlikely that there will be a crossover of the same magnitude as "We'll Always Have Tom Paris" or the DS9 crossover from Star Trek: Voyager.
