Highlights
The release of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection emphasizes the necessity for a complete revamp of the original Metal Gear Solid, as it retains almost all attributes of its PS1 version.
Bluepoint Games, renowned for its expertise in revamping and enhancing classic games, is the ideal studio to undertake the task of remaking Metal Gear Solid. With a proven track record of preserving the essence of beloved titles while elevating their visuals, Bluepoint's aptitude makes them the perfect choice for this endeavor.
Furthermore, Bluepoint has subtly hinted at its next project's connection to Metal Gear, further cementing its suitability to tackle the momentous challenge of remaking Metal Gear Solid. This iconic game not only warrants a remake but truly deserves one, and Bluepoint is poised to deliver on its legacy.
The recently launched Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection not only brings the series' origins to modern platforms but also presents a compelling argument for Bluepoint Games' next endeavor. As a Sony first-party studio known for its exceptional remakes and remasters of cherished classics, it is evident that a complete reimagining of the original Metal Gear Solid should be their next project. Out of the initial trilogy of games in the series, this groundbreaking title would undoubtedly benefit the most from a remake, and with Bluepoint's track record of working on the franchise, they are the ideal studio for the job.
Notably, both Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater included in the Master Collection are the exact same versions found in the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, which was developed by Bluepoint Games. However, the original Metal Gear Solid, the only game in the trilogy included in the collection, remains largely unchanged from its original PS1 release, lacking any enhancements or high-definition textures. It is high time for Metal Gear Solid to receive a remake, and not only does Bluepoint possess the necessary expertise, but they may have even hinted at the possibility themselves.
It's Time for a Metal Gear Solid Remake (Again)
In contrast to the other games present in the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection, Metal Gear Solid does not utilize upscaled HD resolution. Instead, the game remains faithful to its original aspect ratio and runs at its native 240p. Despite the commendable efforts of Kojima and his team, Metal Gear Solid is starting to show signs of aging. When compared to the HD Collection versions of its sequels in the Master Collection, the difference between the three games in the trilogy is even more noticeable.
Silicon Knights, in collaboration with Konami, made an attempt to remake the original Metal Gear Solid for the GameCube as Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes. While Twin Snakes has its admirers, some players believe that the remake deviates too much from the source material. It not only misses the mark in terms of the original Metal Gear Solid's tone and atmosphere but also unnecessarily alters the original's score. Throughout its existence, Bluepoint has proven its exceptional ability to remake games with modern visual quality while preserving everything that players loved about the originals. This is exactly what a Metal Gear Solid remake should strive to achieve.

Although the studio has denied currently working on the IP, they have dropped subtle hints indicating their next project may be related to Metal Gear. The deserving nature of a remake for Metal Gear Solid combined with the alignment of Sony and BluePoint make this a fitting and exciting opportunity.
